Anyone have a good tip for getting the old blades off? The hex socket seemed to strip right away, so I guess I'll be doing some cutting.
Bummer, those hex sockets shouldn't strip easily but can if over torqued. Check out a tap kit at your local hardwear store that can be used to reverse thread them out w/o doing damage to the tools or blade.
For a stuck bolt try using an impact driver first... it will provide high torque with less chance of cam-out or stripping.
I just changed one of mine same thing happened. I filed away at the bolt that was smashed to prevent it from backing out then tried to remove the nuts and the hex stripped. I got a drill bit slightly smaller than the diameter of the new bolt and drilled into the hex head where it had stripped just drill deep enough to pass through the hex head on the pick side if you are off a little and hit the pick no big deal its junk any way.
then I tightened the nut until the hex popped off did this on the 3 bolts and smacked the pick with the other tool pick came right off, next time I think I will skip all this and just tighten the nut until the bolt shears. hope this helps!
