The Horn can be fitted on any Grivel ice tool to provide a comfortable platform for leashless climbing. The Horn is easily attached to your Grivel tools. Just pull off your leash and experience the freedom of movement, easy matching and quick gear placing that leashless tools allow. This is a great way to try out leashless climbing without dropping hundreds of dollars on a new set of tools. *The Horn is meant to support body weight only and is not to be used as part of an anchor system.

Grivel specifies that the tool can be used on any GRIVEL ice tool. Shaft size is the same on a lot of BD and Grivel stuff though, so you could take a risk and see if it works. If they don't fit, return them and pay the price of shipping for your curiosity.

The Horn's stated purpose is supporting the hand and this really applies to leashless climbing. However, the Horn covers up the spike hole needed to attach Grivel's Spring leash so, you are leashless indeed. Also, the Horn's attachment bolts have nuts that seat in recessed sockets thus holding the nut still as the bolt is tightened. Said plastic socket is not molded to a close enough tolerance to prevent the nut from turning inside the hole. Poor design. You might be able to epoxy the nut in place. The Horn is secure and comfortable; supports body weight on one tool but I question the durability especially in real cold day after day. I used these on the Matrix light but for steep ice, recommend using a different tool altogether with an integrated support.

This little piece of plastic works awesome! Protects the pinky fingers from bashing and allows tools to be used as leashless. Awesome!
