The Gregory Z 30 Backpack will allow you to carry up to 35 pounds of backcountry gear when you're trekking through the wilds in search of rejuvenation. Loads of access to your gear means you can easily organize yourself whether your goal is to summit a couple of peaks or take pictures of baby animals in spring time.

  • CrossFLO suspension system features a perforated frame sheet and a mesh back, shoulder, and waist-belt to increase airflow so you don't sweat to death underneath your pack
  • The high-quality ripstop nylon combines durability and low weight
  • Removable rain cover zips into its own pocket for easy storage when the sun comes out
  • Dual hydration port and side mesh panels store lots of water to keep you lubricated on long days in the woods
  • Large outer bucket pocket and hip-belt pocket keep smaller items within easy reach
  • Side straps compress your gear to prevent you from getting thrown off balance on the ridge

Bottom Line: Grab the Gregory Z 30 when a daypack's not enough.

Excellent pack

Love this pack, works great for holding my laptop and books for school, and when I turn my attention to the mountains, it performs just as well. So far I've only used it as a day pack, but it's definitely large enough to use as a light multiday overnighter - which is what I plan to use it for this summer. Suspension system is great, comfortably holds 20+ pounds, has more then enough pockets and pouches to stash the small stuff, and holds a water bladder easily. Highly recommended.

Pack Love

One of the best 30ish litre packs that i have ever worn. Everything from searching for lost people to the technical rescue they need its been amazing. onlt complaint is the back panel behind the mesh is weak and if the pack is stuffed really tight it buckles outward and makes the pack uncomfertable.

Great Pack

very comfortable pack. I don't think you could put enough weight in it to make it uncomfortable. Good size for long day hikes or a minimalist summer over-nighter. A true classic and I am glad black diamond did not change it too much when they bought out gregory (unlike the baltoro).

Great pack.

Awesome pack for day hiking. The pack is well made. The suspension works well and is very comfortable. The trampoline style suspension keeps your back cool, but it doesn't sit too far off your back. Plenty of pockets to keep small items organized. Highly recommended.

The best 1800 cu. in. Pack

This is without a doubt the most comfortable pack in this size. Nice padding in the lower back area and hip waist belt along with an excellent design in the air suspension. The 2011 model adds a few design changes, one nice addition is the inside zippered mesh pocket. My Osprey Hydroform bladder works great and the Osprey Sternum Strap magnet accessory fits perfect.

I tried the Osprey Kestrel 28 and really wanted to like it as I have their Raptor 6 pack and love it for Mountain Bike riding but the 28 just was not comfortable compared to the Z30.

I'm 5' 10" tall and the Medium fits perfect. I called Gregory and they said they quit making this pack in the small size. I had the Z30 2008 model in the small and there is only 3/4" difference in the frame between the two sizes.

Excellent Pack

I just got it, and I could not wait to prove it...It was excellent, very comfortable and very easy to love it....
The only issue was that when you put the helmet in the front pocket, the space inside tend to reduce and need to move the helmet to reach the items on the low part and inside.
But Excellent!!!

Love this pack!

I tried on over 30 different packs - including all the Osprey ones - and the minute I put this one on, I knew it was the one. First use was right up Mt. Whitney - 13 hour day with no chafing, no sore spots, and perfect weight balance. Next to my old Dana Design pack, this is probably the most comfortable pack I've owned.
