Wander 70L Backpack

You've been wanting to start an annual family backpacking trip tradition, but you're worried that you'll have to get your kids new packs every year. Well, worry no more with the Gregory Kids' Wander 70 Backpack. It features an adjustable VersaFit suspension system that grows with your kids so they can keep trekking with the same pack year after year.

Made to handle week-long treks, the Wander 70 sports a Wishbone Wire internal frame that supports heavy loads. The top-loading design allows for efficient packing, and multiple zippered pockets keep trail snacks and other small essentials close at hand. An internal hydration sleeve with hose management (reservoir not included) lets the kids take sips on-the-go, and daisy chains and trekking pole attachments hold anything that doesn't fit in the pack.

A Great Pack for Smaller Backpackers

This is a well built and thought out backpack for smaller framed backpackers. You would think since this pack is targeted towards kids and smaller adults that the waist belt and shoulder straps would also be scaled down. This is not the case. This is a legitimate backpack that is built to carry loads comfortably. The waist belt has the proper density and thickness and so do the shoulder straps. It has all the same adjustability as my expedition sized pack. One of the best parts is that you have access to the inside of the pack from the top AND the front of the pack. This feature makes it great for both backpacking, car camping and just travel in general. It is easy to adjust by just moving the hook and loop that attaches the frame to the bag. You can adjust it in seconds as your son or daughter grows. Same adjustability for the waste belt. It is a great pack if you have a Scout that camps every month with their troop. It will hold up to the rough handling as it is tossed in the back of cars, trailers, canoes, etc. It also comes with a pack rain cover which you usually need to buy as an accessory. The only thing I would change is I would eliminate the two small zip pouches on the waist belt and just have waist belt material exposed so you can attach water bottle/bear spray holsters/pouches. I like my water bottle right on my side and not further back on the backpack. It does have the ability to use a water blatter but I like bottles (lighter and easier to fill and keep clean). Same with bear spray if I am hiking someplace I need it. I like it right on my hip attached to my bag with cordage. Maybe these small pouches are for you. Other than my personal preference little gripe that may not apply to you....the pack is a 9.5 out of 10 for me. Don't hesitate to buy it. Gregory has been making serious packs for a long time and they know what they are doing.

This pack can do it all - for youth AND adults!

We ADORE this pack! And have bought a number of them for our nonprofit, which provides wilderness experiences for high school students who otherwise might not get the opportunity. It is labeled a youth pack, but we find that both students and leaders love it. The hipbelt can be tightened more than any other pack we use, and yet these also fit our adult leaders. Incredibly versatile - almost magic - it's now a go-to pack for us! Plus, it's a Gregory!!

Very comfortable

Super adjustable, lots of pockets and still very light for backpacking. Huge main compartment for long backpacking trips.

Great entry pack for scout backpacking adventures

We got the 50L version for my 11 year old son a couple years ago as he started backpacking trips with scouts. It's a great pack and has survived multiple sumer camps and backpacking outings under tough conditions. We were able to size it correctly to his torso length, and from there he's able easily bind it to his hips and setup shoulder adjustments for comfort on his own. He's able to securely store his tent, sleeping, back, jetboil, clothes, food, etc without a problem and still hike terrain safely on their way to a backcountry campsite. No problems with zippers/buckles, they've survived pre-teen abuse without issue. This model is a little larger, but definitely recommend the series.

Excellent Pack for Young Scouter

This pack has proven to be an excellent backpack for my younger Scout (11yo) which means I get my pack back! We've used it on a couple of campouts and recently packed it up for a week long summer camp. The internal space is voluminous as one would expect. It easily handled his sleeping bag and weeks worth of clothes and gear. The external straps and lash points can easily handle oversized gear such as a tent and large sleeping mat. Although the pack is adjustable, it fit him perfectly out of the box. Additionally, I am confident that when he out grows this pack, it is durable enough to be handed down to his younger brother.

I am a female adult with a very small frame and i could not get a womens pack to fit me. This one is perfect and fits great. I am 5'2 so this will fit any one great who has a smaller frame like me from kids to adults.

Excellent load distribution

I’ve used this bag a couple times and love it. I’m 5’5” and the adult packs were too large for my torso. I was initially a little bummed, but then I tried on this pack and the weight distribution was perfect. I’ve used Osprey packs in the past, and while I really appreciate the ventilation on the back of the Osprey’s, I feel like the load is more secured to my hips (where it should be), and the cushioning in the straps is better in the Wander. I’d go with the 70 liter for the extra space, never hurts to have the capacity in my opinion.
