Description

A wicked pack for streamlined weekenders.

At once fully featured and streamlined, the Gregory Baltoro 65 Backpack is a versatile weekender pack that will have you crushing the miles in serious comfort. With nearly 4000 cubic inches of gear-toting capacity, it has plenty of room for all your stuff, provided you don't plan on bringing a generator or 16 different fleeces with you. A hyper-adjustable Response AFS suspension provides a comfortable, personalized ride. Both the pre-curved Auto-Cant harness and EVA foam Auto-Fit hip belt pivot independently to conform to your body and keep you balanced on tough terrain, and the single aluminum stay provides lightweight structure and helps distribute weight evenly across your back, hips, and shoulders.

The Baltoro's fit and carry are what set it apart, but it's also optimized to hold three days worth of backpacking gear and adapt to the demands of your trip. The removable lid has two pockets and doubles as a lumbar pack if you're going on short base camp explorations or summit hikes, and the pockets on the front, side, and hip belt keep layers, snacks, maps, and other essentials where you can reach them. Gregory also built in a hideaway water bottle pocket on the side of the pack and included a hydration-compatible sleeve with multiple easy-to-feed hose ports. A series of lash points, loops, and compression straps hold everything from trekking poles to ice axes to that sweet stick you just found, and the DWR-coated water-resistant zippers and reinforced bottom help stop the elements from messing up your weekend.

Here's what others have to say...

How big can the waistbelt get on the large?

Responded on

Hey Jonathan,

Large will fit waist sizes between 34 - 40 inches.

Rules my universe with an iron fist

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I've had a bunch of packs and just didn't like the aesthetic of the big towering jobs. However, as I got more gear I needed more space and finally caved. This pack devours my 70m rope, drawers, gear, helmet (lunch fits nicely under it in its own specific pouch), platypus, guidebooks, first aid kit, webbing, knife, the lot. It's totally comfy, adjusts easily and I've not one complaint about it (and the net side pockets are great for that odwalla or whatever you're drinking on the way to a crag). The Velcro hoops snag a clipstick perfectly on one side, and your hiking poles on the other if you're facing a scramble or sketchy part of the hike so as to free up your hands.

The Worlds Most Comfortable Backpack

  • Gender: Male
  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

This pack is the most comfortable with heavy loads. The shoulder straps are well padded and do not dig in with loads greater than 40lbs. The shoulder straps and hip belts move with your body movement. The load carries at the hips better than any other pack in this class. This pack is more comfortable than the Osprey Atmos AG and is not that much heavier. It has better pockets and organization than the Atmos AG. The waterproof hip pocket is perfect to carry a cellphone. I bought this pack, with the Osprey Atmos 65 AG ,with the plans to return the lesser of the two packs. I will be keeping the Gregory Baltoro. I agree with Backpacker magazine awarding the pack Editors Choice Gold. This pack is amazing.

Good insight. I have an Atmos AG 65 but have been thinking about exchanging it for the Baltoro 65. The Atmos AG was squeeky with heavy loads.
