    Everything in its proper place.

The sweet spot can be a hard place to find, but Gregory nailed it with the Amber 60 Women's Backpack. As the middle child of the Amber family, the 60 is perfect for three- or four-day treks, winter overnights, or hostel trips, with over 3600 cubic inches of space and the ability to comfortably carry up to 45 pounds. The comfortable weight bearing capability is courtesy of the TrailFlex wishbone suspension, which uses a lightweight internal spring steel frame to distribute weight evenly and a padded TrailFit adjustable hip belt to take some of the pressure off your back and shoulders. This lets you load the Amber up without sacrificing mobility, so you can tackle tough trails and technical terrain without feeling like you're about to topple over backwards.

Comfort isn't any good without all the necessary features, and Gregory has managed to squeeze them all in without making things overly complicated or confusing. The lid has three secure pockets to hold important items and is removable if you're looking to lighten your load. There's a detachable SideTrack daypack as well, which doubles as a hanging reservoir sleeve when it's inside the Amber. Front, side, and hip pockets hold layers, snacks, maps, and phones, and the stowable rain cover ensures the whole shebang will stay dry if you get caught in a shower. Stash your trekking poles or ice axes using the carrying system, strap extra gear on via the side and bottom compression straps, and even attach portable solar panels to the back using the daisy chain loops, so you can keep your camera and phone charged up as you go.

    Great women's Pack

    • Familiarity: I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share

All the compartments are great, including the hip belt pockets. I recently went on a 5 day hike and had no problem fitting and organizing all my gear. I love the top compartment and side ones for their capacity and easy access - a must when you need to have certain gear and snacks easily accessible.

This is the most customizable pack for fit that I have ever seen, you can really dial it in for a perfect fit. I should mention, at first I had an issue with the hip belt slipping. The hip belt has a pad that extends and is attached via velcro pad inside the strap. The actual hip belt strap attaches to the extendable pad, so all the pulling force is actually applied to the velcro. One side kept slipping on me (which was very frustrating). I finally realized there was a piece of extra fabric covering most of the velcro pad, so it didn't have the needed holding power. After removing the extra fabric off the velcro I have had zero issues with it slipping.

People have mentioned they want a hip belt strap to convert the brain pack into a day pack... I have used the full pack as a day/summit pack and greatly prefer it over a small uncomfortable lumbar pack. The compression straps suck everything down nicely and the lighter the load, the closer it feels to real "Anti-Gravity". Plus I like keeping my hydration reservoir with me at all times, cant do that with a lumbar pack!

Overall, the pack is super light, comfortable, functional, and versatile. I highly recommend it.

    So far so good!

    • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

Did an overnight 18mi trip with this pack. Overall I was happy and impressed with this pack. It fit quite a bit and was comfortable. The back didn't breathe well, but did dry out fairly fast. I wish the shoulder straps were softer on the inside... It rubbed quite a bit with a tank top on. So far it has held up well.

Pretty sweet pack with one annoyance

    • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

This is my very first backpack. Although I really, really want to give it 5 stars there are a couple of things that are not perfect for me personally. Overall I do like this pack a lot. First, the things I love. I absolutely LOVE the huge J zipper allowing access to the main compartment of the pack so that it is almost like a duffel bag. I love that it comes with a handy rain cover which I already used. I love the fun pops of color and I love all the roomy pockets.

Now the things I don't love. The closure tab on the front that secures the strap going over the top of the pack is incredibly hard for me to grip and squeeze open. It was almost a deal breaker for me. The other thing I hate is that the top of the pack is positioned so that my head hits it if I tilt my head backward even the slightest bit. Loosening the straps doesn't solve the problem, it just makes my pack hang at an awkward angle. All in all I really do like this pack a lot.

    Love it

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I used this pack for a weekend backpacking trip and loved it. It stayed comfortable the whole time. No shoulder pulling. The hip belt is thick and strong. Totally comfortable. I was able to carry everything that I needed and still had some room left. Granted, I pack as light as possible but managed to fit sleeping bag, food and cooking gear, hammock, extra clothes, rope, 2 person tent, hygiene items, Nalgene bottle and water bladder, axe and jacket.

    Loved this pack :)

    Best Pack Ive used

    • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

Gregory products are awesome and I love the lifetime warranty that come with them. This pack appealed to me because of the daypack that is included, I was looking for a new hiking/travel pack but also needed a smaller bag to take with me for hikes out of camp or to bring into town. It fits a jacket, water, snacks, and other small items with room to spare and its dual purpose as a hydration sleeve works perfectly - however it is just a small gym bag style pack, which for me has been perfect, but may not suit your needs. Other perks about the bag are the included raincover, double hip belt pockets, double water bottle/side pockets, and lots of smaller outer pockets that can easily be accessed and used to separate gear. I also enjoy that the inside chamber is not just accessible, but almost the entire front of the backpack can zip open. Most other bags have zippers that expose the inner chamber from one or both sides, but if you have larger items that need to come out of your bag you've probably also experienced frustration at using those side zippers (like I have). I tend to load up my bag somewhere in the 40 pound range at its heaviest and it is still comfortable to hike with. This is my favorite 60L bag, I'd highly recommend it for anyone seeking a new bag of this size - great for a weekend+ hiking trip or backpack traveling.

    Backpacked through Europe

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I purchased this right before a 2 month backpacking through Europe. It was the perfect size, I even under packed so I could pick up some things along the way. I loved the opening from the bottom, making it easy to grab without unpacking. The daypack was used several times and the pink rain shield was very helpful when an unexpected downpour happened as well! Overall, for my first real pack, this was absolutely perfect.

    Would definitely recommend.

    Unanswered Question

Hi I want to buy a Gregory Amber 60L backpack in Black shadow/berry color. At a retail store in HK, the color is in sharp pink but when I search online and on your website, it is in light pink. Could you advise if there are indeed two different versions or the actual product is sharp pink? Thank you very much!
