The Gregory Advent Pro backpack has been completely updated for 2005. It's been named the winner of Adventure Sports Magazine's Editor's Choice Award for best adventure race pack. The Advent Pro is the most advanced adventure race pack made. When you're testing yourself and your team against the elements, you don't have time to deal with instability—in your gear or your teammates. Gregory's new patent pending Wraptor Stabilizer assures pack stability, letting you concentrate on the task at hand. Waterproof zips and body material keep your gear dry, even if you're getting doused. Front, top, and bottom access lets you quickly grab the gear you need, without disrupting your pack's organization. There's a top pocket battery compartment, so you'll never lose those important pieces. –Vendor

Bottom Line: Adventure racing is all about toughness and organization. Success begins with the Advent Pro.

I just put this pack through the rigors of Eco Primal Quest - Utah. On the plus side, this pack is lightweight, expandable, and versatile for the trekking, climbing, mountain biking, swimming, and kayaking events. On the neutral to negative side, the zippers required the use of both hands, more built in front strap pockets would be helpful, as would reinforced scuff panels for rock abrasion. Finally, stitching failures at the strap attach points showed some additional need for increase in durability.

Gregory is a leader in lightweight pack technology, but they leave plenty of room for improvement.

Would agree on Mike's review especially about some stiching failures. I have had my Advent Pro since they first came out back in 2006 ..I believe, and have used it a lot. The fabric and main stiching areas of strain are holding up well. The points that the stiching is failing and questionable is on back side about 4-5 inches from the very top. This is where the outer exposed area of the fabric area is double stiched. Granted I may have stuffed and jamed the closure pretty tight at times but this stiching should have held.Other than that, the fabric i dynamite tough aand I still like the pack. PS: I reinforced the faulty stiched areas with some thin dental floss. My overall rating 3.5 out of 5

I bought this backpack last summer, and am still amazed by it. It can take anything you throw at it. While a little small for the "pack everything you can carry" crowd, I find it a wonderful minimalist pack. It's light, it's strong, has great suspension, I love it. The only complaint I have about it is that the sleeping bag area is a little small.
