Shrink bulky sleeping bags and jackets with the space-saving shape of the Granite Gear BlocSolid Compression Sack. The block shape illuminates the dead space that occurs when you stuff round sacks into your pack and these tough nylon sacks are stackable when you load up the 4 x 4 and head out to the expedition’s base camp. Drawcord closure on the top and side nylon compression straps reduce the size of your down sleeping bag or one-piece expedition suit to fit in your already bulging pack.

Bottom Line: Get the most of your valuable space with the BlocSolid.

YOU ARE IN GOOD HANDS...!!!

By:

Granite Gear makes great compression sacks that are tough as nails. I've been using mine for four years now, and they are still going strong...!! My Granite Gear stuff sacks have survived the AT, the PCT, the CT, and numerous other shorter hikes with the same results....unbreakable. Should the day ever arrive when one should fail...it's nice to know there is a lifetime warranty. So sleep easy my fellow hikers, you are in good hands with Granite Gear...!!

FOOD FOR THOUGHT....

Just because compression sacks make thing smaller, it doesn't mean they pack easier. Stuffing items into your pack loose will save you space by filling in all of the voids that compressed sacks create. You can also balanace the weight of your load easier by loose stuffing gear. Compression sacks are great but don't be afraid to experiment...

Didn't Know My Sleeping Bag Could Get So Tiny!

By:

Bought the large for my synthetic sleeping bag and it made it to be less than half the original size. The square shape proves to help a bit but with a sleeping bag it tends to poof out. Great compression sack all around.

Tami, the thing about most compression bags is that you can buy them big and, not to sound obvious, compress them down. So that means that you can buy big and be good. For these granite bags, I suppose the 22L bag would be plenty big enough for your sleeping bag. Be sure to check out the other compression sacks to make sure you find one that sounds like exactly what you want.

Cheers

3 years and still going

By:
July 15, 2010

I have been using this compression sack in the medium size for the last three years now (they've changed their colors a bit). It is holding up great. I've used it mainly for my 25 degree synthetic mummy bag. This size should work fine for any sleeping bag in that range. I have really cranked on the straps of this bag and the stitching is still holding up great. This is a life saver for getting your sleeping bag inside your pack.

Nice Sack !!!

By:

This is a really nicly made compression sack. The materials are pretty sturdy and the straps work pretty well. If you're using this for a sleeping bag, the square ends don't make much of a difference. I used it with my 20 degree bag and it pretty much looked the same as any other compression sack once fully compressed, but with my Marmot limelight 2-person tent rolled up it held it's shape nicely as it does with cloths also. It does seem to be a good design overall. I will be buying more to have on hand. I highly recomend this compression sack.

Looks Cheap, Feels Cheap

By:
April 3, 2010

Haven't used camping yet but here's what I can tell you. Every night before I go to sleep I stuff my long 0 degree bag in the medium sack. Then I crank down the straps wondering how many times I will be able to do so before they snap. Like I said it just feels cheap and if it breaks I would rather it do so in the house not the trail. There is a drawcord around the opening with the smallest stopper I've ever seen ('bout the size of a bean). Because of it's size it won't keep the opening closed. Again, cheap.

I've been using my size medium on a 25 degree bag for 3 years cranking on the straps pretty hard every time and I have never had an issue.

Just to speak to BlackCoffeFix's concerns about the sacks looking and feeling cheap, I have been using the same small stuff sack for my 10 degree bag (It's a really tight fit) for about a year without any issues. This includes fairly strenuous use with climbs all over the Alps and Western United States. That being said, I definitely agree that the draw-string stopper is too small for it's use, but again, I'm stuffing a 10 degree bag into a small stuff sack.
