When you're ice or alpine climbing, ounces can be the difference between success and failure. Shave weight and cover more ground with the Granite Gear Alpine Vapor Backpack. Built for the technical winter climber, this bag weighs in at an incredibly light 2lb 10oz and can easily carry everything you need for a multi-day alpine assault. How did Granite Gear pull it off? They kept the features that you need and got rid of everything else. This bag has two tool loops, crampon straps, gear loops on the waist-belt, and that's it. No panel access, no zippers, not even a lid. If you're the type of climber who takes a knife to all your gear before it ever sees a day in the mountains, then you should carry your alpine tools and sawed-off toothbrush in the Alpine Vapor.
Bottom Line: Granite Gear Alpine Vapor—nothing left to cut off.

Love love love this pack. I realize it is old and out of stock but very similar to the newer blaze AC 60 or Crown VC 60. For 2lb 10oz you cant beat the comfort and carrying capacity, not to mention the crampon straps and side compression straps allow you to compress the hell out of this thing. Similar to a smaller simpler Wild Things Anadista pack. I have carried upwards of 50-60lbs with this pack with skis and boots strapped to the sides with no problem. not one thread or seam has been compromised despite hitchhiking and backpacking across the country and back!

I just used it for 4 days climbing in the high Sierra and it carried really well, even with all of my climbing gear. While it's not as nice as a full-blown more...
