No bugs allowed.

Grand Trunk designed the Skeeter Beeter Pro Hammock with a No See-Um mesh mosquito net so you can sleep bug-free. Double-sided zippers seal you in while the nautical grade-carabiners and triple-stitched parachute nylon hold you securely off the ground. Two storage pockets give you a safe-and-sound way to stow your valuables. The hanging kit is included so all you have to do is find a couple of obliging trees and then fall asleep.

Used this in South America.

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

It did a nice job and was very comfortable. The Guyana jungle was dense with Mosquitos. This is more streamlined than the ENO mosquito net (used ENO in jungle as well). It is more confining though. With ENO's you can stash gear under you and still get to it. My biggest hang up was that when temperatures rose...I couldn't hang my legs off the sides to help cool off like I can with ENO's system. All that being said, I would still recommend it. Very cozy. Your butt might still get some bites though.

Mosquito net-perfect

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I had one of my best night's sleep in a while. I added my Fillo pillow and a North Face Aleutian sleeping bag and slept in. This will go everywhere with me.

Is the Mosquito net removable?
I dig the anti-bug system but wasn't sure if I can take it off or if it kinda sits there all the time if you aren't using it...

Although the bug net is not removable, the video shows that you can simply flip the hammock over to use it as a normal net-free hammock.

Does this hammock keep bugs from biting from the bottom ? I've heard that mosquitos can bite through material like this. Also flies? or is a pad or padding required to be fully bug-bite proof?

Hey Brian,
I have been hammock camping for several years now and have never had a problem with bug bites from the bottom.
The material does a great job at keeping those out, and that is with just a sleeping bag in the hammock. A helpful tip for when it is more chilly is to put an extra blanket between you and the hammock, it insulates you a lot and keeps you nice and toasty.
If you are still worried about bugs from the bottom, look up the "Hammock Bliss Sky Tent". I haves used that with my open hammock and it works great at keeping bugs out and rain off of you.

Great Hammock

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

With all my buddies switching to hammocks, I felt a little out of the loop still pitching a tent so I started looking around and found this. I got this one because it had the attached bug net which was a plus because I didn't want to have to shell out more than I had to on something I might not like and since it was attached there would be one less thing to pack. I however do like it, in fact I love it. Quality wise I have found nothing wrong with it. I did replace the carabiners with some extra BD neutrinos I had but that's just me. Its very comfortable and gives me a lighter/smaller option below tree line. Also if you don't need the bug net just flip it over and poof, its a regular hammock.

Excellent Hammock

I used this one night so far, and I already love it. I love the fact that it has bug netting, to keep those pesky bugs out. It was about 50 ish degrees outside, and with my neoair, my marmot plasma 40 kept me nice and toasty. In the morning, the winds were about 20-30 mph. When you are lying down, the thicker fabric under the mesh blocks the wind near your face so that you still stay out of the wind. It is pretty simple to set up, and it is very comfortable.
Excellent for solo camping under tree line.

Try to keep your friends out of it!

I got this a few weeks ago and have used it 5 nights ad couldn't be happier! My friends were all jealous and after laying in it decided they would buy thier own. It's great for sleeping or just relaxing and packs up to the size of 2 softballs.
Very simple to set up with the carabiners and parachord. Also very simple to take down and keep clean. I've used it on some colder nights, and a small backpacking pad underneath me with my 20 degree bag has kept me warm. I was worried it would be slouchy and bad on the back, but it is very comfortable for back or side sleeping. I would for sure buy one with a bug net to keep the elements off.
Great purchase, you won't regret it!

So I have the GT Skeeter Beeter (love it!). Why the pro model? I should clarify that I'm thinking of giving the SB to my 9-year old Cub Scout and getting the Pro for myself. I'd stick with the SB, but it appears to be discontinued.

I suggest the ENO singlenest. This is a great hammock at a reasonable price. Holds up to 400 lbs, very durable, and easy to use.

Hi Eskimoejoe111,

I would recommend a Grand Trunk DOuble Parachute Nylon Hammock. Unlike our competitors, we include a starter rope kit with our hammocks. It holds 400lbs. and is a great way to get into hanging.

Thanks for the question!

Is this hammock for 2 people?

Responded on

No. It doesn't have any support, so it'll be really uncomfortable for two.

Hi Rashelle,

Any hammock, no matter how big it is, can be a pretty tight squeeze for two people. If you want to be close with the one you are with, I recommend hanging two hammocks right next to each other if possible. That way, you are both comfortable and close.

Thanks for the great question!
