Here's what others have to say...

Does the double come with one rope or two?

Responded on

Hey JJ,

Thanks for your question. This hammock comes with everything you need to set it up, unlike ENO hammocks where ropes have to be purchased separately. It sounds like the carabiners might be worth replacing if you are looking to backpack with this hammock since they are on the heavy end.

Feel free to call or chat in with any other questions!

Awesome!

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

This hammock is awesome. It works really well. I love the fact that it comes with everything you need. Like my ENO hammock did not come with biners or ropes. One thing that I did to cut down a little bit of weight is replace the provided biners with some climbing ones to lighten it up. All in all it is great. Super comfortable. It does fit 2 people easy enough just get ready to cuddle! I love taking this to the park or just out for a day on the lake!

All in all I would recommend this hammock.

Great way to relax.

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I love my Grand Trunk Double Parachute Hammock. It is really well built, packs small, and is comfortable for two adults to fit in together. The only draw back are the carabiners that come with it. They are steel with a very pointed end on the gate. The first time I had this out, there were snagging the connection ropes. Trading these out with a couple better biners fixed this problem and we have had a great experience with this ever since. it is nice that the adjustable ropes come with this, but I did buy add-on straps to makes things a little easier both on me and the trees. Overall, a great addition to our campsites and one we rarely leave home without.

Great way to relax.

One of each.

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

We have a Grand Trunk hammock, an ENO hammock, and a handmade hammock from Ecuador. We love them all! The ENO is a great lightweight single hammock, the Grand Trunk is a fantastic double person hammock, and the handmade hammock provides a bit more insulation and softness than the other two. They all fit the bill in different ways, but the quality of both the ENO and the Grand Trunk are superb. They pack small, travel light, and are a breeze to set up. They're a simple and cheap addition to anyone's camping supply, and they make camping a whole lot more enjoyable.

One of each.

Does the tie-dye double nest hammock custom made so that every hammock is different?

That's honestly the only way I can see it being that much more expensive.

Great Hammock, with room to spare

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

The only reason I am not giving this five stars is the size. For relaxing in the backyard to camping this is a needed item. If you are sharing with that special someone or do a lot of back packing in warm weather destinations this might be the only choice. Everything is in the bag, from attaching ropes to the carabiners that clip on for quick and simple set up. Since I have had it, it has been my go to place to relax and get turned into a ball of nothing. I never felt as if the hammock was going to collapse to the ground even when attaching it to a square weight bearing post at my house. To be honest I would exchange the carabiners if I was looking to save weight and go with the single, if I was going at it alone, but I'm not and this fits the bill for everything I need. The super nice thing about the larger one is that I can use the excess materials that I am not sleeping on as a cover when the wind chills a bit much.
The only reason that it doesn't get five stars is the ropes for attaching to a tree have the ability to cut into the tree and the weight of the carabiners.

Great hammock at a great price

  • Familiarity: I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share

I love my ENO hammock. That being said, when my friend wanted a hammock, I wanted to find one that came with everything she'd need and for a good price. This is a bombproof hammock and is awesome for the price. She absolutely loves it.

Good size, and quality

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

Great hammock that's big enough for my wife and I to sit in comfortably. Nicely packable and easy to setup and take down.

Awesome hammock!!!

Easy to pack away and roll up right after use. It was my first outdoor hammock that i have owned and I love it.

Can't go wrong with it!

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

Gave this one away as a gift, but I've have one of my own that I've used for years. It comes everywhere with me whether the park, beach, backpacking, or to a friends backyard.
Everyone always ends up fighting about who gets to nap in it. It's very durable, hasn't shown any signs of wear from all the abuse I've done to it.

Gives the ENO a run for the money.

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I have owned the Grand Trunk Double for over a year now, and in that time I have put it through its paces.

Pros: It is larger than its ENO counterpart. It goes on sale much more often than an ENO. It comes with straps unlike the ENO.
With this hammock you can hang it up right out of the box.

Cons: It does not feel quite as durable as an ENO. After a year of use I have had to patch 2 dime sized holes in the hammock. also I have had to re-sew the stitching in the attached stuff sack. Now I will say that this hammock gets used a high amount with many different people getting in and out. Another drawback is that when sitting with your legs outside of the hammock your legs will go to sleep much quicker then if you were sitting in an ENO.

Overall: If you can find this hammock on sale for under ~$60 buy it! if not buy the ENO instead.

Gives the ENO a run for the money.

Such a great addition to life

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

Well after spending some time in Costa Rica, I learned that hammocks are the greatest things EVER. So when i saw this on the site, and saw that it was a double, I had no choice but to buy it...and what a great thing it is to have. I just barely got it, and in the middle of winter in Salt Lake there arent a ton of great places to hang it, so i dont have a ton of experience with it yet. However, I went to my buddy's cabin last weekend and hung it between two big wood pillars in his living room and it was pretty epic. I spent a lot of the weekend just chilling in the hammock. I was pretty shocked by how big it was. Me and my girlfriend could fit both of us easily, and there is even enough hammock left to use to cover yourself up if you wanted to. The set up was very simple and the fabric and ropes seem pretty solid. I bought the hawaiian flower print and its pretty rad! I couldnt believe how little and light the pack bag is, considering how big the hammock is. Totally recommended for any campers of travelers.

Lives up to the hype

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

These hammocks are all they claim to be. I initially resisted the hype of buying a hammock, but finally purchased a hammock. After camping over 20 nights in the hammock and setting up the hammock multiple times per week to chill I feel ready to review.

The Good: The hammock offers easy set up at camp. Just find some trees. It is a great seat while not sleeping. The hammock has converted me from a ground sleeper to a hammock man. I cannot emphasize how much I love my hammock.

The hammock is much tougher than I initially believed. I hung it on a dead tree and when the tree fell on me it did not rip the hammock.

The Bad: The hammock can get cold! You are surrounded by air. If it is cold you will get cold. I have a zero degree bag, but in the hammock it does not keep you warm when it is in the 30's. I bring in either a wool blanket or a second bag for more insulation.

The rope they include for hanging the hammock is not great quality. I purchased ratchet straps to anchor my hammock to the tree. They allow for much quicker set up and take down, and are easier to adjust for a novice knot tier.

Mosquitoes can eat you alive if you are not totally covered. Either spray yourself down with repellent before bed, or be prepared to get eaten alive.

All of these are just assumed setbacks to the hammock, but all in all the hammock is totally worth the purchase. If mine was stolen or destroyed I would purchase it again, but I would buy the craziest pattern they have instead of something muted like the hammock I got.

Lives up to the hype

A Must Have

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

A backpacking style hammock is a must-have item in my opinion. It will last your whole life unless you do something crazy with it (no guarantees there... ) and even if you don't use it everyday, the days you do you will be some of your happiness and most comfortable days ever. I use mine for traveling in certain situations, camping all the time (sometimes to sleep in, sometimes just to have around camp for relaxing), and even at home in the yard to relax.

The sooner you buy yourself a hammock, the less regret you will have to live with.

Worked great for a week of hiking

Looooove!

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

This hammock is so rad - I was a little hesitant at first because the material is so light but it's really strong! I accidentally put a wee hole in it because I had a back pocket snap that was bent and had a sharp edge, but doesn't compromise the hammock so far as I can tell; I've been using it regularly for months after the hole and it hasn't had any detrimental effect that I can see. Packs down to about the size of a nalgene bottle, so it's actually feasible to bring it pretty much everywhere, which is awesome. My only complaint is that the 'biners that come with it are super heavy, but that was an easy fix with a couple of lightweight climbing biners! The straps that come with it work fine, but I also have some alternate straps that I made from thicker nylon webbing that I use at home where the hammock gets heavy use in the backyard and I don't want to hurt the trees.

Never sleep on the ground!

Don't go camping/hiking without it!

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

We LOVE our hammock. In fact, buying a second right now for the wife. Quite comfortable with the two of us sharing, but a bit easier to nap in your own. Find if sharing, you're best off at separate ends.

Just got back from a BWCA trip we do every year, had 4 of these strung up next to each other at each site, was sheer bliss. The pups love them too!

Don't go camping/hiking without it!

So far have only used it on my porch, but even so, have spent several nights in it and even written a few papers for school while laying in it. The hanging kit that comes included works fairly well also. Overall, great buy and would buy it again in a heartbeat. I am also 6'3" and still fit well
