Nice Trail shorts and extra support

  • Gender: Male
  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: True to size

The inner lining is not exactly compression, but there is a noticeable difference than wearing standard shorts. I like these a tad more than the Salomon Twinskin Shorts for the extra pockets on the sides as well as some loops around the waist, which are good for a couple of gel packets or stashing your gloves.

I can probably use a second one.

Jury's still out

I'm not totally sure whether I like these shorts, still. I've been wearing them for a few months now, and, while they haven't given me any negative feedback in terms of discomfort or chafing, they just feel...odd. These are usually the second pair of shorts I reach for; my Patagonia Nine Trails are the first. I do really like the centered back packet right below the waist band. If I could graft that onto the Nine Trails. they'd be the perfect shorts. The overall fit of these shorts is just a little strange. I have larger legs for a runner (being primarily a cyclist), so that may be part of the reason, but it doesn't seem like there's enough of a difference between the size of the inner and outer shorts to make sense. I'm also not in love with the drawstring.

Brian, have you tried the Patagonia Strider Pro? They are my go-to and they have a zippered pocket centered in the back...
