Better on the bike and off.
All of the comfort and performance-enhancing fit advantages that a top-tier bib short offers can sometimes be easily overlooked by the potential inconvenience of having to remove the entire short when making a pit stop. Gore Bike Wear has engineered a clever solution to that quandary, by designing the Xenon 2.0 Bib Short around a patented double-zip system that quickly disconnects the short from the mesh upper straps. You get the best of both worlds, without compromising on fit or convenience. Gore also included an intuitive hook closure that holds the two front straps together across your chest, keeping the X-shaped upper harness securely and confidently in place while you ride.
Gore didn't skimp on ingenuity when it came to constructing the lower portion of the short, either. They started with a high-gauge Lycra to maximize muscle support, before dividing the bib short into panels to create an ergonomic fit. They even shifted all of the short's flatlock seams away from potential irritation or chafe points so you'll never have to disrupt your rhythm in the paceline to adjust. The short's front panels are constructed with a nylon that is less elastic, so the portion of the short that holds the front of the Xenon Sonic Lady insert retains its support profile better. Gore opted not to use a silicone bead in its leg endings, but rather a wide, compressive band of nylon and Lycra to keep the hems confidently in place. And lastly, Gore constructed the inside saddle contact panels of the short from a more abrasion-resistant weave of nylon, ensuring the Xenon 2.0 is the bib you reach for season after season.
Gore has fitted the Xenon 2.0 Bib Short with their top-shelf Xenon Sonic Lady insert. Nicknamed the "less is more" insert, the Sonic Lady is a highly elasticized and dynamic three-dimensional insert that moves with your body as you pedal, giving you complete freedom of movement and comfort at every point on the saddle. While optimized for long rides, it's still Gore's lightest weight, and lowest profile insert that still delivers multi-density cushioning where you need it most, while minimizing any potentially problematic friction points. A close look at the honeycomb-esque pattern on the surface, and you'll notice how Gore has finished the insert with antimicrobial carbon fiber threads for complete moisture management and heat distribution throughout the life of the short.
The Gore Bike Wear Women's Xenon 2.0 Bib Shorts are available in either Black, or White with Black accent. Both colors feature reflective logo hits and inserts on the back legs to help keep you visible if you're riding home after dusk. They are available in X-Small to XX-Large and feature an inseam measuring 21cm (8in).
- Flat-lock seams reduce chafing
- Zipper with semi-lock slider make the tight easier to get into and out of with slippage
- Gripper elastic on bottom hem keeps the tight from riding up
- Reflective elements to make you more visible at night
- Mesh back insert promotes airflow to help your body regulate its temperature
- Women-specific XENON SONIC LADY insert accomodates wider sit bones with a wider profile, super-dense foam, and an ultra-thin perineal area to relieve pressure

Love these! Comfy and look good!
- Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
I have the black and white bibs, and I don't have any issues with transparency. The white is not really anywhere that I am concerned about even if they were thinner. They fit great. I have an XL, and I think it's pretty true to size. Feels very secure on, and has a bonus in that it holds me in in places I appreciate. For example, the front area goes up a little higher and with the hook thing, there is really only a relatively small area exposed in front in case of tummy issues.
The zipper thing about not having to take the bibs all the way down on bathroom breaks is not something I have used. It is pretty cool though. There are two zippers on the back at your waist/hips, and they unzip easily, thus freeing the bottom portion you would want out of the way. You do not notice the zippers at all otherwise. And they do not suddenly "let loose," leaving you hanging out.
The cushion is generous without being a diaper. These are my favorite bibs, although I have only two pair. My other pair is Specialized (runs bigger - I use an L), and they don't have all the detail that this pair does.
The Black One is Better

- Familiarity: I've used it several times
Good, except that the white parts are pretty transparent although you get the benefits of the ventilation. The flat lock stitching is more robust on the black model. I purchased both and the black one is virtually damage proof! This one is more delicate.
Both fit well and look great though. The seat insert is excellent.

I can't quite figure out the "bio" portion...
I can't quite figure out the "bio" portion of the bibs from the description printed. Can someone provide a detailed description of how this system works. Is there a zipper that goes all the way around? How hard is it to reattach the shorts to the bibs? I am hesitant about its ease of use. Thinking it might still be faster to strip off the jersey? Also can anyone comment on the mile range and wickability of the chamois? Thanks!
Unfortunately I haven't demoed these bibs myself ( I'm a guy) but many of my customers have so I can give you their take.
The Bio system was designed by a female employee at Gore Bike Wear who was an ex pro road racer in Europe. The system was engineered with ease of use in mind. The zipper goes all the way around the waist but keeps the bib in one piece so it is very easy and fast to zipper back up and get back on the bike. Definitely faster and easier than taking the jersey on and off - so I've heard from my customers !
The insert on the shorts is specifically designed with a high moisture transfer fabric to ensure you stay dry and comfortable on long rides. I will post a close up image shortly.
Sorry for the delayed response please post again if you have anymore questions.
Hi there - please see my review for a little different explanation of the zipper feature. There are actually TWO zippers - one on each side. :-)
all about comfort, quality and function
- Familiarity: I returned this product before using it
- Fit: Runs small
I love bib shorts. I wear Pearl Izumi bib shorts in sz m. I wanted to give the Gore shorts a try because of the unique bio break system. I had trouble with the Gore sizing, After 3 tries I found the sz l to work best. The zipper system works well but the straps aren't as comfortable as the Pearls. I did not like the white on the bottom of the leg openings. It put me in mind of a Penguin. The bibs gave me a funny shape....penguin like? When paying over $100 bucks for shorts I want them to fit well and if at all possible look good on me. I am short, busty, over 60 with a body going south but happy to still be riding.
