Description

From long-sleeves to short-sleeves in two quick zips.

When it comes to winter, you need all of the protection that you can get. But, what if that go-to winter jacket could also keep you covered in the fall and spring without causing heat exhaustion? A novel idea, indeed. However, Gore already beat us to it with its Phantom 2.0 SO Jacket. When the weather permits, you can wear it as a full jacket, but while in more temperate conditions, the sleeves are removable for the perfect amount of coverage. One jacket to rule them all.

To provide the utmost protection from the elements, Gore constructed its Phantom 2.0 jacket from a sophisticated blend of fabrics. Each region has been thoughtfully considered, and because of this, the Phantom 2.0 is equal parts protection, comfort, and flexible. Starting with the body of the jacket, Gore used its patented Windstopper Soft Shell membrane. As its name suggests, this material makes the jacket 100% windproof. However, the name doesn't allude to its water-resistance or high breathability. That's right, with the comfort and weight of a mid-layer, and the protection of a shell, this material will keep you dry from both the rain and your own sweat. And while the material is extremely malleable, Gore also incorporated integrated stretch panels into the Phantom 2.0. This permits a full range of movement, whether you're stretched over the hoods or reaching down into the drops.

If that's not enough stretch for you, Gore enabled you to remove the raglan-cut sleeves. But, that would be an extreme measure, as the detachable sleeves primarily add to the jacket's versatility. Even better, when the sleeves are removed, the Phantom displays soft, protective short sleeves that guarantee coverage from the elements. Now, you can stretch the Phantom 2.0 out over multiple seasons.

Going even further into protective design features, Gore included a zippered underflap at the rear hem to protect you from wheel-spray on wet days. And while this protects you from the weather, Gore also took steps to protect you from the hazards on the road. To do this, the jacket has been given reflective elements throughout to increase your visibility in low-light conditions.

To keep the Phantom from shifting, Gore included wear-resistant, elastic bindings on the sleeve hems and bottom hem. This particularly comes in handy when the jacket's three slanted rear pockets are loaded with all of your ride essentials.

The Gore Bike Wear Phantom 2.0 SO Jacket is available in five sizes from Small to X-Large and in the colors Apple Gree/black, Azur Blue/black, Kiwi/black, Neon Yellow/black, Navy Blue/black, Red/black, Splash Blue/black, Vibrant Orange/black, White/black, and Black.

Hell has frozen over, but care not, you're wearing this jacket. I've ridden this thing in solid 20 degree weather with 15mph winds, with nothing more than a thermal or t-shirt underneath, and I was as warm as a kitten on Santa's lap. Sizing is Euro, I am 6'2", 175 with a 42L chest and the XL fit perfect. Wish this thing had a underarm vent/zipper for warmer days, tearing off the sleeves mid ride takes a pit stop and some Houdini straightjacket work. Pull the trigger.

I've had a pair of GORE Windstopper toe covers for a couple of years that work great. So I picked up this jacket up on chainlove.com sight unseen because the deal was too good to pass up!

The fit is spot-on, loose enough to wear over a longsleeve jersey but won't flap in the wind. Windstopper material has a slinky feel to it, not too thin and not too heavy. Sleeves zip off to reveal short sleeves underneath - I didn't expect that, but I think it's an interesting feature! Quality workmanship, in all I'm impressed.

I got this for my birthday and I've used it down to 30* and was quite warm/comfortable. I'm pretty sure I can ride in the 20's with this, but the weather has not gotten that low yet. I want to be able to test my limits in winter riding, but the temps have not cooperated. I like the angled pockets - easier access. Also, the pockets are deep, too. I carried many items with these pockets, including a winter vest. I have larger arms and chest than your typical cyclist because I lift weights and the jacket is pretty flexible and not restrictive, especially around the arm pits (my fear with all the bike clothing). This is a 2 in one jacket - sleeves can be removed - and therefore I can wear in the spring time. I'd recommend it to others.

How does this compare to the Path or Tool jackets that's a highly regarded offering from Gore? I can't seem to differentiate between their jackets. There's so much offerings. I don't want to overpay for something I don't really need yet I don't want to buy something that isn't really what I'm looking for.

These are my requirements:

- Able to withstand 15F or lower
- Vents
- Cycling fit (or slim Italian fit)
- Insulated inside
- Windstopper (I'm guessing this is a common thing for Gore Winter jackets)

I think Robert Thomas here is a rep from Gore. Help me out dude. Email me at g32ecs@gmail.com

I work for Gore, but I can't say enough praise for this our best seller. The fit has been adjusted to be right on with the 2.0 and it is worth it's weight in gold from 30 degrees up to 65 degrees out here in Southern California (yes even this Chicago native has become a Sally).

This is the 2nd one I have owned. Gave the 1st one to my son for his cold weather rides. Layered and we can ride in 40 deg weather-no problems. Getting warm-zip off the sleeves. Would buy again-hands down.

I have never owned any Gore Cycling products. I am 5'9'' 175lbs with a muscular build and I bought an XL. I wear an XL jersey in Castelli, Giordana, Sugoi, and virtually every other European Jersey. Pearl Izumi I wear a Large. All fit me very snug as I only buy race fit jersies.

I have only worn this on a mountain ride. The tempature was 45F and we had some sun. I had a jersey and a think base under the jacket and it was very warm. It ended up zipping off the sleeves at the top of the first 24 min clime. The zip off feature is very cool especially that it gives you some sleeve vs just acting as a vest. Decending at 20+mph showed the wind breaking capabilities of the jacket. I didn't have the sleeves on and my arms were cold and my torso toasty. I highly recommend the jacket.

This is the best jacket for cold weather. I have worn it down to 36F with a long sleeve thermal jersey and was very warm. I have other winter jackets but this is great blocks the wind and keeps me toasty.
