Training you to ditch the trainer.

If there's a group that wants to keep you out riding this winter, and not stuck on an indoor trainer, it's the cycling fanatics at Gore. They're relentlessly dedicated to employing their arsenal of any-weather fabrics and materials to keeping you on the bike, and pieces like a Gore Bike Wear Oxygen Thermo Long-Sleeve Men's Jersey are great examples of how they can enable you to do so.

One principle dominated the Oxygen Thermo's design, and that principle is thermo-regulation. To achieve this, the jersey features a composition blend of polyester and elastane. The hollow-core fibers of the polyester are in charge of trapping air between the skin and jersey, essentially creating a consistent insulation layer. Meanwhile, the elastane permits the fabric flexibility required for the position and movements of cycling. However, the controlled insulation environment will only stay dry for so long. Accordingly, the jersey's material pulls moisture away from the skin, and rapidly transports it to the quick-drying surface of the jersey. And not only is this concentrated moisture wicked away, but Gore's fabric engineering tricks also increase the jersey's overall breathability. So, moisture-causing vapor is minimized and transported before moisture typically even occurs at the skin.

For fit, Gore pre-shaped the elbows of the jersey in order to accommodate the near-constant bend of the arms within the cycling position. In fact, this ideology is extended to the collar shape and raglan sleeves, as well as to the elongated rear hem. And in order for the jersey to retain its form in motion, Gore has also installed a partial elastic construction at the hem of the jersey. Gore also understands that you carry more ride essentials in the winter. Accordingly, the jersey features ample storage with three rear compartment pockets, a back pocket for an air pump, and a small, zippered rear pocket for your keys or cash. The jersey also includes a full-length, semi-lock slider zipper for on-the-fly heat dumps during extended efforts.

The Gore Bike Wear Oxygen Thermo Long Sleeve Jersey is available in five sizes, from Small to XX-Large, and in the colors Fresh Green/Black, Red/Black, Black/Neon Yellow, and Brilliant Blue/Neon Yellow.

    Great jersey for colder temps

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: medium

I like the fit not to tight but still form fitting. It works perfect with a just a base layer. I have only used for temps in the 50's and low 60's. Any higher and it will be to warm but perfect in the mid to high 50's. Add a thermal base layer and you will be fine below the 50's. I have long arms and the sleeves still have a little extra length.

    Nice Except for Seams

    • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it

There is a lot to like about this jersey. I appreciate the wide "power" type cuffs, wide gripping hem, and sloping pockets. The fit, for me (36.5" chest and ordered a M), is pretty spot on for an endurance fit. A bit baggy in the sleeves, which seams to be common across the board for me.

The fabric is fairly heavy and will keep you warm, however there might be a gap between wearing a summer jersey, baselayer, and warmers, and being able to wear this Oxygen jersey.

What got me down were the seams. Thick fabric means thicker seams, and there are a lot of seams in this jersey. They just irritated me.

Simplify the construction, use a slightly lighter fabric, and this would be a real winner.
