Place an emphasis on your warmth.
Wintertime. It's a season of choices. Some choose to slave away further and further into the monotony of the trainer, while others choose to brave the impassable tundra of the outdoors. If you identify with the latter grouping, forethought, planning, and preparation are essential to the success of your endeavor. And along these lines, the fundamental element to the aforementioned protocol needs to be warmth. Lucky for you, though, Gore Bike Wear understands the plight of winter, and accordingly, it created the Oxygen Thermo Long Sleeve Jersey.
One principle dominated the Oxygen Thermo's design, and that principle is thermo-regulation. To achieve this, the jersey features a composition blend of polyester and elastane. The hollow-core fibers of the polyester are in charge of trapping air between the skin and jersey, essentially creating a consistent insulation layer. Meanwhile, the elastane permits the fabric flexibility required for the position and movements of cycling. However, the controlled insulation environment will only stay dry for so long. Accordingly, the jersey's material pulls moisture away from the skin, and rapidly transports it to the quick-drying surface of the jersey. And not only is this concentrated moisture wicked away, but Gore's fabric engineering tricks also increase the jersey's overall breathability. So, moisture-causing vapor is minimized and transported before moisture typically even occurs at the skin.
For fit, Gore pre-shaped the elbows of the jersey in order to accommodate the near-constant bend of the arms within the cycling position. In fact, this ideology is extended to the collar shape and raglan sleeves, as well as to the elongated rear hem. And in order for the jersey to retain its form in motion, Gore has also installed a partial elastic construction at the hem of the jersey.
Gore also understands that you carry more ride essentials in the winter. Accordingly, the jersey features ample storage with three rear compartment pockets, a back pocket for an air pump, and a small, zippered rear pocket for your keys or cash. The jersey also includes a full-length, semi-lock slider zipper for on-the-fly heat dumps during extended efforts.
The Gore Bike Wear Oxygen Thermo Long Sleeve Jersey is available in five sizes from Small to XX-Large and in the colors Azure Blue/white/black, Black, Black/white/black, Lemon/white/black, Orange/white/black, Red/white/black, Splash Blue/red, and White/apple green/black.

Gore bike jersey
- Familiarity: I returned this product before using it
- Fit: Runs small
Unless you are skinny, might not fit. I'm 5'9" and 163# and in pretty good shape. A large was too small - it rode up on my back. If you're not super lean, go with pearl Izumi.

so many options for jackets
live in LA - go out early morning 6am or earlier on three or four hour rides. The temps can start in the upper 40's with a lot of wind and get up to high 50's towards the middle of the ride
I typically have baselayers on. What is the best option with out spending a fortune
My other question is size. In Castelli I am typically a XL but Izumi a L. I am 5'7" with a longer torso, 40-41 inch chest with a 30 inch waist
I purchased the Oxygen Thermo jersey for cold, winter rides. It is great for temps in the low 40's as long as it isn't wet (with a base layer beneath). The jersey is cut athletically, so there isn't any bunching at the zipper, which is great for comfort. Pockets in the back seem to stretch for days. Great jersey for early spring!
my new GORE OXYGEN THERMO JERSEY
got my gore oxygen thermo jersey (long sleeve). LOVE it! it fits snug and feels great. i wear a lightweight merino wool undergarment beneath and it's the right workout combo for me at temperatures down to 45 degrees. i got the yellow and have had lots of positive feedback. on the down side: i wear a vaude water pak when i ride my ibis bowtie because it's awkward getting at the bottle on that frame. i noticed some fraying in the seams on the thermo jersey due to the friction of the water pak. too bad:(
