Pray for rain.
Despite popular belief, there are times that we pray for rain in the saddle—but only if we've got the confident protection of kit like Gore Bike Wear's One Gore-Tex Pro Jacket for Men. Our situationally specific love of rain manifests during times like when a light drizzle during a bikepacking trip through the Pacific Northwest pulled the colors and scents out of the pine-lined fireroads and sloughed-off needle beds, completing the atmosphere of one of the most surreally beautiful moments we've ever experienced from the saddle.
Of course, this beauty is hard to enjoy if you're pedaling 60lb of supplies towards the eventuality of a soggy, miserable camp. Since it's essentially mountaineering technology adapted to cycling, the One Gore-Tex Pro Jacket (and some waterproof panniers) can save you from that fate.
The jacket's heart is its Gore-Tex Pro 3-layer membrane, which features breathability on par with the lighter Gore-Tex Active membrane and is both wind- and waterproof. It's more durable than Active, though, a property that complements the jacket's more relaxed fit and recommends it as the bikepacker's dream. If you're after elemental protection for intense intervals and race efforts, something with Active or even Windstopper is a better bet; if you're in the market for extended periods of work/rest cycles and an abuse-hungry face fabric, then Pro is the way to go.
Gore-Tex Pro isn't afraid to get out of the saddle and clamber up a rain-drizzled scree field in pursuit of a valley floor panorama shot, nor does the prospect of grasping branches and abrasive pack straps give it pause. Gathering tinder, setting up and tearing down camp, and posting up on a granite stool next to a morning fire—the One Gore-Tex Pro Jacket's sturdy membrane and fit recommend it for all of these activities and more, regardless of wind and rain. (Disclaimer: Though the jacket will protect your torso, uncooperative weather may in fact ruin your coffee.)
The membrane is cut, stitched, and taped with various finishing touches that further complement the weather-braving bike life, the most notable of which being a hood with two-way adjustability that lets you tailor protection to the conditions around you. The hood also incorporates a subtle awning over the brow, and the jacket's fleece-lined collar zips up inside of it to help ensure a non-abrasive barrier against the elements. A fold away drop tail follows suit on the saddle end of things, and when the conditions let up, zippered vents on the side provide a surprisingly effective amount of ventilation. The jacket is finished with reflective detailing throughout.

The jacket is really outstanding in combining a decent, premium black look (still delivers visibility/safety through reflective details) with all protection you are normally expecting from a mountaineering GORE-TEX jacket. I use it as every day jacket and for commuting to work or just walking through the city. No matter if hard rain, drizzle or just windy condition- I am always feeling well protected and styled. Will also use it for snowboarding this winter!! Summary: stylish, versatile, protecting. MY FAVORITE ;-)
