Stay in your Element.
Layering for a ride can be tough, because conditions can change so frequently — one minute you're climbing and sweating, the next you're descending and freezing. Gore Bike Wear's Element Windstopper Active Shell Men's Vest is a simple and elegant solution to the ever-changing conditions you encounter on the road. It's lightweight polyester fabric is laminated to a Windstopper Active Shell membrane, which stops the wind from penetrating to your core and sucking away all your hard-won heat. The Element is also light enough to prevent overheating when you're climbing, so you won't have to stop and change every few miles.
The Element is designed to layer easily, and it's most at home as the final piece of your kit. Reflective details on the sides, shoulders, front, and back increase visibility and safety, and dual drop-in rear pockets keep your water and snacks where you can reach them. Gore includes an additional Napoleon chest pocket and finishes the Element with a high, ergonomically shaped collar and wind-blocking zipper storm flap to provide full protection on gusty days and chilly descents.

I love this vest. This is my go to piece for a chilly morning that is know is going to get warmer. It will keep my core warm in 45+ degree weather yet still breath really well in the 60 Degree temps. I bought the medium and it is a casual fit which is exactly what i wanted. It looks really good as well. i would highly recommend this vest. It also blocks light rain.

I live in Arkansas, where we definitely have four seasons. Fall brings very unpredictable weather. Layering is a must. I'm pretty warm natured and heat up pretty quick on a ride. More times than not, this vest over a long sleeve jersey or with sleeves is sufficient for me unless it drops below freezing. It does a great job blocking the wind and breathable enough that I rarely have to take it off if it warms up.
