Ergonomically inclined.

Since you’ll be wearing the Contest AS Jacket while you blast past the competition like an arrow out of hell, GORE Bike Wear used an ergonomic fit, articulated elbows, and an extra-long back. Oh, plus a WindStopper membrane. While the membrane puts the kibosh on core-chilling wind, a mesh lining takes care of moisture. Adjust the cuffs and stash energy gel in the back pocket.

Here's what others have to say...

Worst fit possible.

Good around the torso, nice back drop, but the sleeves look like those worn by a flamenco dancer, huge. The collars of most jackets are a bit tight on me, this one has about 3 inches of extra room, too much. Supper disappointing.

Not a roadie fit

The quality is there obviously, but this jacket fits more like a baggy, commuter jacket. Fine if you're using it for that purpose I guess, but most roadies may want to steer clear. VERY baggy around the midsection, arms a bit floppy, and just generally a strange fit. I'm usually a huge GBW guy, but this one is going back

Great Jacket for the Price

Very nice jacket, 6'4 rider ordered a size L and it fits great. So far I've just ridden it dry conditions around 30 degrees, works great. I pair it w/ a Castelli long sleeve baselayer and I'm good to go. Much nicer jacket than I expected for the price. Fit feels great. I like the cuff velcro, helps keep the cold out.

Tried on a medium, I'm 5' 10" 170lbs 32 inch cycling inseam and longer torso. Jacket was a bit too short in the front, arms and fit around the chest was good. Going to try on the Large, but I think the arms will be a bit too long. I'll update the review when I try it on.

I have extremely long arms (36/37). I would most likely buy the XL jacket... any idea if the sleeves would be long enough? The only other jacket I have bought in the past exposes my wrists.

All of Gore Bike Wear's jackets are cycling-specific cut, meaning they'll be shorter in the front, longer in the back, and the sleeves will be longer than a non-cycling jacket in the same size.

According to the sizing chart, the sleeves on an XL will be about 34"...

Gr8 Jacket...

I can't imagine how I got so lucky! Bought the jacket at a great price and hoped that it would meet my needs. Well, my needs on the trail were surpassed on my most recent ride. I started an early evening ride in the low 50's and into the ride it started pouring. I wondered how warm and dry I would be as the ride and rain continued. I know that the jacket was not advertised as water proof, but after a 2 hour ride I was both warm and dry. I instantly came home and bought a pair of gore gloves as well. Congratulations on a great performing jacket.

Nice jacket. Not perfect, but good value

Does a great job keeping warm down to at least 50 degrees (Haven't worn it below that temp yet). Wore only a short sleeve jersey below the jacket at 50 degrees and was plenty warm. After a big hill, had to unzip jacket to below chest to cool off.

Did a great job shedding water on a rainy day.

I'm 6 4 with long arms, and found the arms to be plenty long at full stretch. Tail of jacket does great job sheltering butt from cold and wet.

Only issue is it bunches up in the shoulders a bit and I find I keep pulling it down at the tail when I'm riding fast downhill and hearing it flap at the bunch.

I want to order the gore bike contest jacket but i am not sure about the right size. I usually order a small size from other clothing brands.
Referring to the sizing chart in the case of the contest jacke I will need to buy a medium size. I am wondering if the sizing chart gives an accurate sizing. Does Gore bike makes sizes smaller than usual?

GORE BIKE WEAR™ makes three different types of "fit" or "cut" when it comes to our garments; tight, slim and comfort. Therefore, you could have three different models of jackets all marked size L, but they may all fit differently based upon the particular cut/fit of that particular model. Tight fit garments are focused on the hard-core, very fit rider while slim fit garments are slightly looser fitting than tight fit garments. Comfort fit garments are our most generously cut garments and therefore are roomier than tight or slim fit garments. Our size medium fits a range from 35"-37". Since the Contest AS jacket is a slim fit, it would fall in the middle of the range which would equate roughly to a 36" chest. -- Dave, GORE BIKE WEAR™
