I thought the camera could never fall off of the chest mount either..but be careful..it can. Use a tether on every shot if you can!

unedited screen grab from 720p, 60fps, 16x9. Image quality and dynamic range seems really good for such a small, cheap camera.

Hey Kyle thanks! I just got the GoPro HD a month ago, so its not the camera I used last season. There is no power cord for the GoPro as it uses a battery. I've found the battery to be very reliable and long lasting. When the battery gets low, you plug it in to your computer via the USB cord that is included. They should have also included a standard charger that can plug into a wall outlet.

another question.....does this come with a power cord? or is that something you have to buy as an extra?

I use the AC adapter supplied with my iPhone to charge the camera, and it works great. Just a quick tip.

If you have a Mac, iMovie is the program that can mix shots and video. For Windows users, many film editing programs can do that too (free or purchased), but you have to make sure it is capable of editing HD footage or at least able to convert it. Also, before downloading or buying film editing software make sure your computer has the right specs to handle that kind of editing (RAM, Harddrive space, processor speed, graphics card, etc.) The goPro website has suggestions on what kind of programs to use to edit HD footage.

How did you mix still shots and video? Did you have to purchase software to get the still shots .

The clairity of the footage coming straight out of the GoPro is insane. Little P.o.v. cameras have come a long way in the last few years. At this point, i think the GoPro is by far the best quality out there!

It's been said time and time again, but the Gopro is the BEST helmet-mounted camera you can get for the money.
It only has two buttons, but there are SOOO many options. At first it seemed like it was going to be somewhat confusing, but if you take a minute to read the directions, the gopro couldn't be any more user friendly.
The waterproof housing is money, and the durability can't be beat.
But my favorite part about the gopro, is all the creative ways and places you can mount the camera.I would highly recommend buying the extra grab-bag of mounts for $20 from the Gopro site. As corny as it sounds, the possibilities are nearly endless.
(I forgot to add...I would also recommend an extra battery and a 16MB memory card to keep you going all day long)
Amazing camera, you won't be disappointed!

This camera is an unreal option in it's price range, and the quality of the camera. It doesn't skip a beat. I use the 720 60P and convert it to DVCPRO 720-60P the slow motion looks amazing after Conforming it to 24P in Cinema Tools. If you love to document your adventures you really can't go wrong with this amazing camera. If you are looking to use the audio don't even bother. But the quality of the shots is well worth it. I will be posting footage from the camera.

GoPro Test Powder
By: D. Joshua Christensen
February 25, 2010
This footage is just from a day at Snowbird UT testing out my new GoPro HD Camera and Chest Mount. I am trying to decide still how much I like the chest mount as compared to the helmet mount. It does allow you to see your skis and the horizon at the same time easier, but also looks weird whenever your arms raise above the level of the camera (dropping a cliff, etc.).
Footage isn't great, mostly because I was testing the camera as well as frame rates. The HD on this camera looks awesome though for sure!
My home network wasn't working when I threw this video together and there were about 10 random songs on my computer, I decided this one was as good as any. If anyone has some cool music that I could throw in an edit sometime let me know, would love some spanish guitar.
More video to come.
P.S. That day at the Bird was awesome! I was testing out the Lib Tech NAS Pow ReCURVE skis. A review will be posted on skijosh.com soon.

This thing is super tough. I've fallen on it while it was in my ski jacket, and I've dropped it a few times, and it still has no visible wear. The videos are amazing, although sometimes the super wide angle lens can be a little much (as far as distortion goes). I also love the great still shots it takes. Even though it's only 5MP, it takes sharp, crisp images as long as you've got enough light.Make sure you've got a high quality HD card otherwise the camera may lock up (although I've never experienced this, my friend was until he got a faster SD card). Also, GoPro claim there is a firmware update, but it's all but vapor ware at this point. No big deal really, but I'd like to have the extra features they are promising. Attached an image I took with it.

I have mounted this to our truck in Moab, my foot for rappelling, my longboard, the video this does is just awesome! Even the 5 megapixel stills are amazing and my main cameras are 15 megapixel SLRs that shoot video. This camera is like a fisheye lens cause it is so wide, but that makes it one of a kind. Simple to use once you figure out the way it works with the menu. All around amazing!
Skijosh.com February Edit
By: D. Joshua Christensen
September 25, 2010
I am not sure why, but it was hard to find time to edit this season. I have a bit of footage, so over the next few weeks I will be releasing a few edits of me and my friends skiing in Utah. This entire edit was shot with a GoPro HD Hero camera. They are awesome little camera's, I highly suggest you pick one up for yourself.
It has been a while since I have edited, but I threw this together in one afternoon. It turned out fairly well. After watching the footage from February, I think I might be liking the helmet footage more than the chest mounted camera footage. What do you think?
There was supposed to be a ton more footage to come after this, but my RAID 5 drive failed after a BIOS flash and I lost all of my ski footage from March-May including but not limited to: 30 foot cliffs, misty flips, powder nose butters, pillows, and double tomahawks in death chute....yes, double tomahawks in death chute.
Hopefully I can get some cool Mountain Bike and Wakeboarding stuff up here..

Hi Mark,
Certain SD cards don't work well with the camera.
By: chillerdecks
January 13, 2010
no I had it moving to video mode alright and the three shot burst mode looks quite different then the little camera. the card just wasn't fast enough. you need a class 4 or 6. I ended up with a 4gb class 6, it was the only class 6 I could find. still having trouble editing. I know you can convert the files but it seems like such a pain.
By: Nate Blouin
January 11, 2010
i'm gonna say you were probably in three shot burst mode.
By: chillerdecks
January 8, 2010
Looks like all my troubles were from everything but the camera. Once I got a good card it worked as it should. I had problems viewing the clips though and in editing them. mpeg4 seems to be giving my avs editing software fits. I can upload the footage directly to the web but every time I try and work with the clips its choppy. I've read others having this same problem. As far as using it goes the thing is great. It stores easily in a pocket and I just use the head band. Feels like one of those old petzl headlamps. It a lot less hassle free then the lipstick cameras. the video has turned out great

ok I've switched sd cards and the camera is recording now but the video jumps a bit, seems to miss a frame and doesn't flow. does this mean the card that I'm using still isn't the best for the job its a film pro 2gb sd card. I emailed your support link on wed but with the holidays I haven't heard back yet. I like the versatility of the camera but it still has a few aspects that aren't working as I had hoped. Lets hope I can get it ironed out.
thanks

Hi Mark,
This is likely either a problem with your SD card or your SD card is a make/model that doesn't work well with the HD HERO. Almost all major brand cards CLASS 4 or 6 work perfectly with the camera: Kingston, Sandisk, Patriot, etc. all work well.
A Kingston Class 6 SD card is the card of choice...and is a low cost card. You do not need a crazy fast card to work with the camera.
Certain off-brand cards are unreliable and even some of the super high speed cards can act up...there's no reason to use a faster card than Class 6.
If you have an questions please reach us through this page http://www.goprocamera.com/contact and we'll help you further.
We'll get it sorted so that you're experience is money just like the rest of these guys - GoPro Support
