The GoLite Phantom jacket utilizes Gore-Tex PacLite super waterproof, breathable fabric, making it perfect for backpacking, alpine adventures and wet-weather pursuits of all kinds. GoLite design ingenuity and Gore-Tex technology merge in this super-versatile storm jacket for all your outdoor adventures. The lightest PacLite fabric available is seam taped and outfitted with all watertight zippers to keep you completely dry. With a dual-action hood that rolls into a collar, Underarm zips and mesh pockets, the Phantom as versatile as it is waterproof. Staying dry never looked better. –Vendor

Bottom Line: Lightweight and waterproof, the Phantom will keep you dry from summer on the AT to a winter at Crystal Mountain.

Good jacket, bad pockets

By:

This jacket is good. I like the wire on the hood. 13oz is pretty good, but if you're going ultralight there are better ones out there. The pit zips are great and are pretty long for max ventilation. Material breathes nicely. The main downside to this jacket from my experience with it is that there are no pockets that you can put your hands in to keep them warm. The pocket issue is the main reason I would not recommend this jacket. That being said, I still use it on backpacking trips (my hands are on trekking poles, not in pockets) and bike rides (again, hand pockets not necessary).

GOOD JACKET, BAD HOOD

By:
September 13, 2007

This was my first try of GoLite outerwear. The Phantom is light, durable and stylish. The hood is annoying. It doesn't roll down as stated, the wire brim felt like a hanger around my head. I chose not keep this jkt, as Gore-Tex is useless in the Southeast, where high humidity prevails.

Pleased with Selection

By:

I wanted an ultralite, durable, preferably Gore-Tex storm jacket for hiking & backpacking. After researching we picked GoLite's Phantom jacket. We purchased two (wife & I). Having used them on the trail in nasty weather, we were pleased with our selection. Nice hood, long sleeves, found no negatives with performance or fit. We commend GoLite for doing their homework and Backountry.com for its "how can we help you" attitude.

jacket is nice. lightweight, sheds water well. pit zips come in handy. One thing i questioned is the lack of fleece lining the chin area. I thought that was mentioned in description.

Go Lite Phantom

By:

Overall good lightweight jacket. Very comfortable, although I have yet to backpack with it. I also have an Arcteryx Sirrus SL. I like the color of the Phantom better, but the Arcteryx has reinforcements on the shoulders, the phantom does not. The key is the weight around 10-12oz it’s good for all year and you can layer. The rear of the hem extends a little too much for my liking.

I wish I knew about your company years ago. I plan to do most it not all my winter shopping on your site. I love the coat I bought but I have one problem. I requested a black Phantom Jacket and received a navy blue Phantom Jacket. I don't mind but it was a little disappointing. Thank you and I'm looking forward to the new gear.!!

Great jacket with multiple uses

By:

I was looking for a Gore-Tex shell primarily for rain. However, I first used this jacket for some springtime backcountry skiing here in the Ruby Mountains and realized that I can use this one all year long! This is a super light jacket perfect for any outdoor activity where you need to keep dry. I especially like the storm zippers and the fact that it is Gore-Tex.

Best light weight jacket ever!

By:
January 4, 2007

I recently bought my second GoLite Phantom jacket. It is without doubt the best light weight, Gore-Tex, breathable jacket I have ever owned. They take up almost no room in the suitcase. I use them for a light walking jacket for warmth as well as a rain jacket. What has impressed me most is the breathability. Even in a warm rain I can feel the air circulate. Great coat and great value!
