GoLite removes all the bells and whistles from the Men's Phantasm Jacket to give it an incredibly low weight of 11 ounces without sacrificing important performance. Gore-Tex PacLite waterproof breathable material fights off every drop of moisture from a light sprinkle to a torrential downpour. Other than a hood and two pockets, the Phantasm Jacket includes no fancy features because you would rather have a jacket that packs small than one with gimmicks.
Bottom Line: Lose the fancy stuff and keep the important features with the GoLite Phantasm Jacket.
Let me start with the only con I have because the rest is SO great: the pockets are shallow. My wallet fell out of it once. That's the only bad part.
I have had this jacket for about 8 months in Seattle. I wear it every day (you have to here) and it's really held up well. I bike to work every day, and so far have had two accidents wearing it, the last today. My seatpost broke in half on my way home from work, threw me from the bike, I landed on my side and slid THREE feet on my left arm. Got up, absolutely certain I would have to replace my jacket (yeah, it was the second thought I had after "what the heck just happened?")
Not a scratch on the jacket. Not ONE! Will ALWAYS buy PacLite jackets in the future!

I really did like this jacket, it worked well, and kept the rain out. The only problem -- it kept the sweat in. There weren't any pit-zips, so theres no way to vent out your heat. Especially when hiking, you can't really wear it for too long otherwise you'll get wet anyway.
I used this as a shell while snowboarding and it snowed continuously for a day. Not a single drop got through this. The material is very soft almost satin like on the outside. Very light weight and the zippers work great. The only issue is that it wont zip up to the top smoothly. The flap on the inside which has soft material for your face gets caught in it. No problem though, you just move it as you zip up.
As with all GoLite gear, my satisfaction has been met. It's a very light jacket and is great and durable even aside from it being so light. My other shell doesn't have side hand pockets, so that's a plus for me. I enjoy sliding my hands into pockets on the cold days. This jacket is mostly used for hiking or camping trips, but I'm sure would do great ripping it in the powder as well. Another highly recommended product from GoLite.
I bought this jacket because I wanted a gore-tex jacket for hiking/camping.
It packs extremely small, and I haven't even needed it hiking yet (luckily). I didn't want to spend a lot (but gore-tex is expensive) since I was hoping I wouldn't ever need it hiking anyway.
Well, since then I have worn it many times when going to work in the rain. It works extremely well at keeping me 100% dry, and also wicks away any heat or moisture I might build up inside. I have no problems with this at all.
One thing to note...I usually get larges, but bought medium in this due to the sizing chart. The fit is "fitted," so it took me off guard when it didn't feel baggy. Well, now that I'm used to it and know it's fitted, I think it's fine. I've actually had many compliments on the jacket while wearing it out around town. I think if I would have gone with the large, it would have been way to big through the shoulders.
Pros: very lightweight, rainproof, packs small, good style and size Cons: noisy; additional velcro/ button to zipper to keep it in place when windy but hot or just a light drizzle, would be nice.
Got the Phantasm on SAC, stoked on it. The large fits perfect (6'1" 190lbs) and even at the low weight it does have a couple of bells that I was pleasantly surprised by: a little velcro tab inside the back of the collar that lets you secure the hood when rolled down (nice for biking etc) and two fairly large mesh stash pockets inside for extra random storage (you can actually reverse stuff the entire jacket into one of them, though I don't think that was the intent)
The only thing keeping it from 5-stars in my book is the hood adjusment. The two little pulls don't really do too much and an "omni-pull" back of the head style would be better cause they let you keep the hood from blocking your periphs, but thats just my weird pet-peev.
Overall the jacekt is sweet and if you've never had a Gortex paclite jacket.....get one, you'll never have another excuse to not bring a jacket dummy.
Great Jacket. At first I did not know if not having pit zips would be a drawback, but it has turned out not to be an issue because of the goretex fabric that wicks really well. one thing i would have like to have was a hood adjustment. Other than that it is a great jacket that keeps the water out, packs down small and weighs nothing.
Can you find a better made, ultra-light waterproof breathable jacket. 11 oz and folds away to nothing. It is the perfect outer layer for light weight packing, layered warmth and dryness.
This has been my go to jacket. Layered with a fleece I've been staying warm. I've stayed dry through a good downpour that soaked out my friend's more expensive soft rain shell. The lengths are perfect. I've been wearing it to work (tough on clothes) and it isn't showing any signs of wear. My only complaint is there isn't quite enough room across the back for complete range of motion for my shoulders. I could go up a size and not have this problem, but then the jacket would be too big else where...not a major problem, minor annoyance at most.
Let me start with the only con I have because the rest is SO great: the pockets are shallow. My wallet fell out of it once. That's the only bad more...
