When ultralight Wisp HP fabric and 800-fill power down pushed the Men's Inferno Insulated Jacket into ethereal weight ranges, it had to be GoLite. Only those gram-skimping gurus could create a jacket that's so light, yet so warm, it seems impossible. The Inferno's 15 denier micro-polyester Wisp HP shell has a DWR coating to shed light rain and keep the premium down lofty, while elastic wrists and hem block drafts. Two fleece-lined pockets hold your hands, maybe some keys or an energy bar, and that's about it—but for a jacket tipping the scales at just 15 ounces, that's pretty awesome.
Bottom Line: The GoLite Inferno Jacket is way more expensive than a bottle of soda, but it weighs less and you can wear it when you get cold.

This jacket is well-built with an eye toward weight and compressibility. It weighs under a pound and compresses to fit easily in a 4L stuff sack (purchased separately, size Med jacket). It fits well and is nicely cut, and since it's so compressible, it moves easily and never feels bulky. The material feels pretty light, but it seems to stand up well. I just don't think I'd hike through underbrush with it. The only downside I've noticed is that I miss having a chest pocket for little things.

In keeping with their tradition, Golite has created the perfect layer of warm. Instant heat envelopes your upper body as soon as it is zipped. I have let two people try it on, both said they had never had a jacket feel so good. Any exertion will make you too hot, so pack\save it for the "down" times. Feels more like a skin due to the shear lightness...even at XXL size.
