Description

Drooling on pillows isn't always a bad thing.

The line between park laps and powder pillaging can be blurry; the Gnu Dirty Pillow BTX Snowboard carves out a new category in this space with a profile that Gnu likes to call Progressive Park Powder Freestyle. The Dirty Pillow deploys in-resort pow-day-enhancing tech into a frame with freestyle twin geometry and a medium-stiff flex. The Dirty Pillow drools on pillow lines with Banana rocker, a mid-wide waist, and elongated nose and tail entry points on a mellowed-out Magnetraction edge. What that means for you is stable switch landings into pow and the ability to float on top of the soft stuff without having to work for it.

  • Banana Tech rocker profile is the one that started it all—rocker between your feet, and flat zones extending to the contact points for a super-loose, catch-free feel
  • Magnetraction edge adds traction to all snow types with multiple contact points that create an effect akin to a serrated knife
  • Altered Genetics 1 core utilizes a hybrid wood composed of bamboo, balsa, and aspen for incredible strength and lightweight response
  • Double sintered base uses a porous compound to hold and retain wax in the name of speed
  • Topsheet artwork by legendary shred photographer Tim Zimmerman—visit timzimmerman.com to look at more pretty pictures

I was a bit confused when riding this board for the first time, felt like a beginner again. I was trying different binding setup and I think I finally got it. After 4 powder days I have to confess I love this board so much... It hasn't let me down in any situation, landing 10ft drops like nothing, going through pillows easily, confindentally traversing the ice to get out of a tight situation. I ride it without any backstance/setback (exactly in the middle), with +21 and -21 binding angles. It floats in deep powder like nothing, just easily lean a bit backward and you're there. It lacks a little bit of pop when buttering, but still can do easy 360s just on the slope. I'd say its only weak side so far are ruined slopes at the end of the day, but noone really likes to ride this type of terrain. Haven't tried it in the park yet though... and it is more on the heavier side if you hike.
