It's a great Helmet. Protects and keeps my head warm. But one thing I dislike about it the ear pads hurt my ears after like 3 hours of wearing it straight.
I CRASHED OUT ON A DOUBLE BLACK DIAMOND HIT THE BACK OF MY HEAD HARD ENOUGH TO SPLIT THE HELMET UP THE BACK AND COMPLETELY BROKE THE FOAM WALKED AWAY FROM IT WITHOUT ANY PROBLEMS. DEFINITELY GOING TO STAY WITH GIRO
You should find a helmet that fits you correctly first, and then match the goggles to the helmet. I know this may not seem helpful, but I looked at a couple dozen helmets before finding a good fit. Finding a pair of goggles that I liked and fit the helmets was the easy part.
The helmet worked great! It came with different size inserts that you can velcro on and off for a perfect fit. There aren't a lot of vents in it so if your the sweaty type, this isn't for you. Kept it on all day with no problem, wasn't too heavy. Worked great with the goggles. Giro made a good helmet for the price.
I got free shipping on this item! Thanks Back Country! The delivery was quicker than I expected! Website said 7-10 days for delivery, but I received the helmet 4 days later! The only downside, and a big one, was that the helmet looked like it was either a display item or a second hand helmet in the original box. The velcro inserts didn't even want to stick to the dirty, worn-out, beaded headliner in the helmet. I was disappointed that Back Country would even send me a product in this condition!
There is only one reason I'm not satisfied with: even if I bought the size larger than my head, when I use a hat (it's a decent thin one) under the helmet, the helmet gets a little to tight right above my earlobes and after a while it's getting uncomfortable. And I don't think I can upgrade it to even a larger size because then it would just fell off my head without the hat.
The earpads can be pulled apart (velcro) and small speakers can be inserted. There are remoavble foam disks for this purpose and the inner lining has a bunch of small perforations to let the sound through. The bottom seam of the earpad has a small hole through which you can thread a cable. So I'd imagine they are compatible with a wide range of headphones.
As the father of 3 young boys who are now independant skiers, my wife and I felt it was important for them to wear some sort of headgear. Well, to avoid the foreseen arguement of "well you don't wear one, why do we have to!" I bought the "Revolver" and love it. Comfortable, warm and protects from hard impacts.
The only complaint I would have is that my Oakley goggles don't nestle under the bill as well as I would like. They are shaped too much but Spy and Scott goggles seem to have a better fit to the bill.
This helmet was comfortable and I like the style. The fact that I was able to customize the padding inside was particularly nice. I cant imagine needing anything else. I hope I never need to test its durability in a crash. Ill let you all know if I survive should that ever happen. (No promises)
Our first season to wear helmets skiing. Wife loved the Giro Revolver in white and green, matched her ski coat perfectly. Fit true to size and was lightweight and comfortable and kept her head warm. No complaints.
I just bought this helmet, so I have yet to use it on the slopes, but this helmet looks great. I hate how most helmets sit on top of your head. Let's be honest, they just make you look stupid. But this helmet sits down nicely on my head. It also has removable padding allowing it to sit down even further. The way I have it now, the brim of the helmet is aligned just above my eyebrows...similar to how I wear a baseball cap. My head size was 23 in. exactly and the Medium fit perfectly.
This helmet rocks. I have the green one, and get tons of comments about it. This helmet is comfortable and true to size. The clip keeps the goggles in too, even on HARD hits. I use it with VZ goggles and they work really well together. (the vz goggles are larger than normal too)... All in all, i love this helmet.
What sold me on this helmet was the fact that I could remove all the padding and be able to wear a beanie and goggles underneath. A lot of other helmets I tried on felt weird with the combo, but this one is perfect. The internal goggle channel helps make room for your goggle strap so its not sitting inside awkwardly. It's lightweight too. I get a lot of comments on it and most people are surprised that it's Giro. Low profile and not bobble-head like. Works great with Oakley Crowbars. And for people who do like the padding, it comes with 2 different thicknesses, so you can get a custom fit for your noggin.
