Giro is perhaps best known for its helmets, but don’t think for a second that the Proof glove is any less deserving of your recognition. Its aim is to be your go-to winter riding glove, and with a waterproof-breathable shell, and generous insulation, it’s well equipped for such an endeavor. But the real surprise is how low profile all of that protection really is.
The Proof glove looks the part of a full-blown winter setup, but thanks to its removable polyester insert, it’s actually far more versatile than you might expect. The liner blocks wind, while the fleece lining keeps your digits warm in more moderate temperatures. And to ensure a secure connection with your controls, there are silicone grippers at the fingertips.
The liners are useful, but when the mercury drops, the waterproof-breathable shell glove starts to shine. With 40g Thinsulate XT-S insulation, it packs ample warmth, without excess bulk. It’s designed using Giro’s Super Fit Engineering, which considers the mechanics of your hand, as well as glove construction, to maximize dexterity. This is accomplished through the use of thoughtful seam placement, and perhaps most significantly, an ergonomic Clarino synthetic leather palm, which is grippy and durable. And to ensure you don’t freeze your digits when you need to answer your phone, the fingertips employ touchscreen compatible technology, so you can keep your gloves on when you need them most.
The Giro Proof Gloves are available in six sizes, from X-Small to XX-Large, and in the color Black.
