Tight and narrow may be good for rock climbing shoes, but if you’re going to spend hours in the saddle, your piggies deserve a little more space. Giro now makes its comfortable Privateer Shoe in a high volume version.
The uppers of the Privateer are sewn from a synthetic leather. And while you may think that real leather would be nicer, in actuality, the synthetic is able to withstand moisture to hold its shape without stretching. It also stays supple and doesn’t harden over time. This means more support for your feet, season after season.
Inside the shoes is an EVA molded footbed with a medium high arch support for comfort during long rides. And in case you get hot feet, the fabric has been given an Aegis antimicrobial treatment to prevent odors. These comfortable uppers have been placed on a DuPont Zytel sole. This sole is constructed of a nylon composite that reduces the price significantly from carbon while retaining stiffness and power transfer.
