Since there isn't a lot of overlap between cycling and pedestrian clothing, we can only assume that most manufacturers want to maintain a distinction. By combining the aesthetics of pedestrian clothing with the function of cycling clothing, The Giro Insulated Vest refuses to abide by this binary and lets you go undercover as a double agent. Are you a cyclist? A pedestrian? No one knows, so no one will see it coming when your plans come to fruition and you do whatever it is that a double agent does.
The Insulated Vest is made of 20D Micro Ripstop nylon shell, a fabric that provides lightweight wind-resistance that packs down to stow inside one of the hand pockets. The 25 grams of Primaloft Sport insulation it protects is the same material that you'll find in the race-fit clothing lines of other cycling manufacturers, so the vest's discreet aesthetics don't incur any functional costs.
Giro's proprietary Stowback pocket system is another piece of stealth technology that masks the vest's cycling pedigree. Stowback comprises three rear pockets that are actually housed inside of the jacket. Vertically-oriented zippers on either side of the bank of pockets let you reach in from the sides for quick access, though for full access, you'll have to take the vest off. The key benefit of Stowback is that, when you're not on the bike, you're not constantly advertising the fact that you're a cyclist — even if you're still carrying a full complement of cycling-related cargo.
The Men's Giro Insulated Vest is available in five sizes ranging from Small to XX-Large in the colors Dark Shadow, Glacier Grey, and Glowing Red.

Simple and Basic
- Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
- Fit: True to size
This is a very basic designed vest which does its job well. Tuck it into your bike bag if temperatures are questionable, or wear it post ride to keep warm. Has a style that works on or off the bike, if you're into that sort of thing.
Light and Great
I bought this vest primarily for ski touring, and some biking. It has served its purpose greatly. It's light and compacts pretty well.
I generally run really hot, but this vest is the perfect topper over the top layer on those slightly colder days.
My only complaint is that the the zipper handle is kind of small, so it makes a bit difficult to pull with either touring or bike gloves (possible, but not the easiest).
Simple, lightweight design that is equal parts function and style!
