Don’t be a fumbling fool on the slopes when you try to turn down the music and answer your phone at the same time. Upgrade to the Giro TuneUps Wireless with Bluetooth Technology audio system, and kiss all those loose wires and annoying controls goodbye. Simple-to-reach-and-use controls (even with gloved hands) are located on the ear pads so you can easily control your music, answer your phone, and turn up the volume without any hassle.
This set-up is great. Yeah, it's pricey, but the lack of wires is worth the price of admission. All the buttons work as advertised w/ my Droid X, & the sound volume & quality of these cans is a bit better than the drop-in phones. - G.

I have been looking at these for a couple years (Bluetooth tuneups) and finally decided to bite the bullet. Love them! The connected quickly and easily with my iPhone 4, and continue to do great! I have found them to cut out a bit but pretty rarely. The other day they were cutting out pretty badly so I rebooted my phone, the speakers and reconnected the two. Worked flawlessly after that. Small price to pay for the awesomeness that these offer! (I have used these for 7 full days of rising already and that was the only time there was an issue aside from once having to reconnect after shutting the helmet off for lunch. Doesn't take long to fix) still beats a wire any day.
My only harp is that the manual doesn't tell you anything about the type of battery for best charging procedures. The other thing that bugs me is that there is apparently a 1 year warranty on these and if you go to the skullcandy website, they say all their products have a lifetime warranty. Which is it?
I first purchased this when it came out a couple of years ago as a package deal with the Giro Omen helmet. It also came with old style headphones, you unclip the speakers from the helmet and put them in the headphones. Use this setup in the summer time while I am mowing the lawn. For skiing they are great, easy to change songs and volume plus you can answer your phone and even do it as you are carving it up! Music sounds good, good base. It is great not to have cords attached. If you love music and skiing, this is the setup to have.
I had to buy a little sony bluetooth adapter for my 3G to get all the controls to work to advance to the next song etc... the regular bluetooth on the phone would only stream the music.
The Tuneups connected 1st time with my i-phone 4, instructions are easy to follow (no adapter necessary) The sound is deep and great quality for the size. Volume is sufficient even on windy days. Distance from my phone was impressive No problems at the 10m range specified. The speakers do appear a little bulky but the freedom from wires way over-ride the look. Controls are a good size so the gloves can stay on. Ear covers fitted well with the Giro "Seam" helmet a firm click in system. 4 1/2 stars from me
TO PAIR: ======== On the LEFT ear pad, hold down the power button for about 10 seconds until the left ear pad starts flashing both ORANGE and BLUE - that means it's in pairing mode. Holding the POWER button for about 3-4 seconds simply powers the earbuds on -- you have to continue holding down the POWER button til the ORANGE and BLUE lights start flashing, in order to enter pairing mode.
Put the music source into pairing mode (or "search for device" mode) and choose "BT Helmet" to connect to. No pairing code is needed.
Here is a Tuneups Bluetooth manual from Giro's site: http://www.giro.com/skin/frontend/enterprise/giro/images/giro/collections/news/tuneups-bluetooth-manual.pdf
Great product, easy to use with gloves on. Nice to be able to pause, change volume without having to search for my phone. I have them paired with a Windows Mobile Smart Phone, I can easily play music and take the occasional phone call while out on the slopes all without having to pull out my phone or take off my gloves. Battery easily lasted all day. Audio quality is good. I've had some minor issues with resuming music after pausing, but I'm guessing that it is more an issue with the phone than with the Tuneups.
In order to control an ipod with this unit do you need to purchase another device. A receiver to connect to your ipod? Like the Giro Skullcandy Approach Bluetooth Adapter? Would you need the Approach Bluetooth® transmitter that allows you to listen to music wirelessly by auto-pairing with this Bluetooth® stereo device because it supports the A2DP and the AVRCP profile. Thus allowing you to use the controls on the headset?
If its anything like the seam helmet, you just pop out your current ones and then pop these new ones in. They aren't cumbersome at all, they feel just like the normal ones. The charger is a just a USB cable that you can plug into your computer.
