Fits Well

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

The Giro G10 helmet is a helmet I've had for a few years now for skiing and boarding. Keeps my noggin warm on those cold days on the mountain. Recommend for those in the market of a new ski or board helmet.

Is this better than the smith variant brim? If so how come I cannot decide which to get!

Responded on

Is it better? no. Is it worse? probably not. These two helmets are both safe and provide good venting and warmth. There is not a major difference in weight either. Your decision should come down to which one fits you noggin the best. For me, that is the smith. Other factors should be your personal style choice and which one you can get a good deal on. Good luck!

Great Helmet

Just returned from Lake Louise where I wore my new G10 for the first time. I love the fit and overall confort. I also experienced a "yard sale" which included a hard knock to the back of my head. I was very greatful for my new helmet.

Purchased After Much Searching

I finally decided to get a helmet after 20 yrs of skiing without one. Was leaning towards the Smith when I tried this one on at a shop. It just fit my head better and was definitely more comfortable. So far I am happy with the purchase. When searching for a helmet, you need to get one that fits right - take some time to try them out.

One note on the venting. I was really focused on this originally because I thought I would get hot so wanted a helmet with plenty of vents, which this helmet has. However, on a recent cold day skiing (below 20 degrees F) may head was cold and I had to put a hat on underneath. So much for not needing a hat when using a helmet. I suggest you get a skull cap of some sort if you plan to use it on cold days.

Is this the helmet fo4 a 56 year old expert skier who has never worn a skull cap. Is this the model for skiers, not boarders? Is there a difference?

Responded on

Great ski and snowboard helmet, I would say it's a better ski helmet than snowboard helmet.

Read some complaints about the goggle clip on the Omen. Is the G10 different?

Great Helmet

Its very warm but yet cooling with the adjustable vents only problem I face is there is no good way to route the wire for the audio add ons.

So far my favorite helmet I own. With ample ventilation that can be closed off on cold day. The fit did take some micro adjustments to get it perfect but once its sized right you don't need to keep messing with it every wear. I have worn this helmet mountain biking in cold weather, I have taken hard hits from tree branches, low signs, chair lift bars and ski poles. Didn't feel a thing! Once equipped with the tune ups this helmet is unbeatable. I have a big head, some 661 and fox helmets I wear an XL or XXL, but this one I'm a standard large. And the helmet could still go smaller. Buy this helmet

my life saver

Due to my poor body coordination, it's taking me a long time to get my snowboarding skills together. Often I catch an edge and fall backwards - after flying in the air for a few seconds.
Enough about my poor snowboarding story.

Very warm, adjustable for a perfect fit to my head, nice button snap to hold my goggle in place (so that it doesn't fly away from me) and cushioned ear flap and strap around my chin...

Other than these great features, it saved my life so many times. Will hold on to this until I crack it.

Im looking for a univeral helmet for my fiance. he mainly does longboarding and snowboarding.. i thought going with a snowboarding helmet would be best because of the warmth and its cold here so longboarding with that wouldnt be bad.. is it going to work for both?? or do you have another helmet that would work better for both longboarding and snowboarding??

Does the free shipping deal include overseas orders? I just tried checking out and the shipping was about $120, but it still said that the order qualified for free shipping. I didn't proceed any further.

My favorite

I've used this helmet during the last 4 seasons and have no plans on changing it. It is light, easy to adjust, has great vents and it is still possible to hear others while wearing it. I use it for teaching, touring, and on the slopes. Very happy with it.

G10 Men's -recommended

I really like this helmet. I tried on just about every helmet made. It's my first one after skiing 40 years with just a stocking or baseball cap. I decided it wasn't an issue if I could steer clear of the trees but if the snowboarder next to me could steer clear of me! It's warm, fits well, and is nicely ventilated.

My head measures 58.5cm, so I am not sure which size to get. Should I get a large for when it is really cold and need to fit a balaclava under it?

Responded on

I'm probably go with the L. It's a really tough call but I almost think that the M might feel too tight and you would more than likely not be able to get a balaclava or hat underneath it. I think the L would definitely probably fit better and you would be able to fit a hat/balaclava underneath it.
