    More speed requires more protection.

We’re seeing helmets, particularly mountain biking helmets, get a lot longer in the rear over the past few years, and Giro’s Feature Helmet is no exception. And, while we’re inclined to talk about Barry Melrose’s hair now, it can only be considered a good thing to have your everyday helmet cover more of your head as you’re cruising through the trees.

All that extra protection isn’t going to do much good if you can’t wait to take it off. To that end, Giro included 12 humongous vents to move air in, through, and out of the helmet so your head stays cool, even on low-speed climbs. Additionally, the helmet can be made to fit just right via the In Form one-handed fit adjustment system, which uses a dial at the back to get the tension just right.

    Awesome Helmet!

    • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

I chose the blue and yellow one as I've always liked that kind of style. Coverage seems good, especially around the back of the head. Hopefully I don't have to test it any time too soon. It loses a star because the mechanism on the back is slightly uncomfortable at the tip of the padding towards the top-back portion of my head. However, I am very pleased with this purchase.

    awesome

    • Familiarity: I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share

I gave this helmet to my boyfriend... and I've thought about stealing it from him (based on looks alone.) The design of this helmet is really nice but he also says the weight and ventilation are perfect for trail riding.

Grabbed this for a friend, but here's his feedback: "I bought the Giro Feature helmet in a size medium. I have a small head, but it fits well. Super comfortable helmet at a price range you CANNOT beat for anything else this stylish with full lower head/neck protection. It's fairly lightweight and is probably not the best helmet if you are super aggressive and/or fall on your head a lot. I have not fallen on my head yet (this season) will report back when I do."

Good helmet for a very good price

    • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

The helmet fits good and seems durable after a few uses. The helmet does seem to run a little larger than my other Giros. Also the "glowing red" is much closer to blaze orange.

    Great price, good helmet

    • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

Got it in matte gray. Helmet arrived quickly and no one came close to the price backcountry offered. Outer shell is molded to the foam so you get a nice solid but light feel. Visor had about an inch of adjustment up and down. Ventilation is ok, but on the last hot day ride I took, I definitely started cooking under it. Sizing was pretty spot on and the adjusting dial really keeps it snug on your head. Straps feel really good. My only gripe would be that I wish there was a little more padding towards the front of the helmet. I've tried to adjust the padding but I can still easily feel the hard foam against my head and that can be uncomfortable at times.

    Good XC Helmet

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I picked this helmet up early this summer to replace my old road helmet. I like the construction, after several uses I'm not seeing any peeling from the plastic edge, or foam deterioration. It's pretty well ventilated; I rode most of the summer, and while a cool year, I didn't have any problems overheating. Fit wise it's one of the smaller profile

    Good XC Helmet

    Awesome Helmet

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

This helmet is super lightweight, with decent ventilation. I measured out to a medium on the sizing chart, and it fits true to size. It's comfortable, with no pressure points. Definitely a quality, inexpensive option!

    Very Uncomfortable on My Head

    • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it

Well made considering the price. Designed well for protection. Unfortunately, painful on my head. Did not fit my head shape and caused painful pressure points, especially one in top back. This could be due to a manufacturing defect in that area. Have not had this problem with any other helmet.

    Nice, but too round.

    • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it

I got one for my son and he liked it, so I ordered myself one. Well... I've got a really narrow head, and this thing is REALLY round. It's either going to need a lot of extra pads on the sides (which it doesn't come with) or I will return it (which is a breeze with Backcountry).

    Looks great, BUT...

    • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it

I read and re-read all the reviews from backcountry, MTBR, Pinkbike, Dirt, Amazon...Everything about it, fits what I wanted. I really wanted to use this lid.

I measure right at 56mm, which according to Giro, stats I am Medium. I ordered one up and tracked it all the way to my doorstep. I was so stoked to open it up and get riding! To my dismay, it felt a bit loose no matter how much I tinkered with it. I knew without a doubt that would not cut it out on a trail.

backcountry was awesome in getting the thing sent back and thus, I ordered a Small.

Again, I could not wait to get it out and ride!

Nevertheless...the Small sat way to high on my head and I felt to much pressure on my temples. So, I had to send this one back too.

Bummer for me, I really wanted to use this helmet. Hope the Troy Lee A-1 fits better. I had to give it 3 stars based just on the fitment. I'm sure I could have made the Medium work, but I did not want to chance it with my brain inside.

    Great Helmet

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

For the price, this is a great mountain bike helmet. I initially got it as a short term replacement for a cracked helmet and I ended up using it much longer than anticipated. It fits well, covers the back of the head well, and is pretty light weight. Highly recommended.
