Affordably fast.

Buckle up and get on the road with the Giro Apeckx Shoes. Taking design inspiration from Giro's top-line Prolight and Factor shoe offerings, these shoes strike a streamlined profile with a wallet-friendly price tag. Swapping out the carbon sole offerings of their older siblings, these shoes come outfitted with a DuPont Zytel nylon sole. Although it doesn't have the flashy ring of the word "carbon" or the classic carbon weave, DuPont engineered Zytel to provide carbon-like performance with a longer lifespan than your average carbon sole. Gather your friends for some long summer miles or sign up for a local race with confidence that these shoes will give you all the stiffness and responsiveness you'll need to get power to the pedals.

turned out great

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: True to size
  • Size Bought: 12

My previous shoe was my first, the Giro Treble. Used for two years, and they performed nicely for a basic shoe. I found the Apeckx in the previous seasons colors for half price, less than the Treble II. It was a no brainer to buy the better shoe. The first time I slipped them on I thought they were too small even though they were the same size as the Treble shoe. I was concerned that the heel seemed to not be covered as much, and the ratchet seemed to be uncomfortable. I wore the shoes around the house for a few hours and decided the fit was in fact right. My first few miles I was thinking about the heel but realized my foot was secure. I came to realize that I had gained some energy pedaling due to the stiffer sole, it just felt easier to hold speeds and cruise faster. About 100 miles in now and I'm super happy with the shoes and how they perform, the all gloss black looks pretty bad too!

turned out great

Fits great!

The shoes arrived and right out of the box were a great fit. Like another post, I typically wear size 11-1/2 shoe and the 45.5 fit me perfect. I have a rather narrow width foot, and these fit really well, especially with the power buckle and two Velcro straps. For those with wide feet get the wide size. The size is true to fit and match my Giro mountain bike shoes of comparable quality and price.
Sure you can buy shoes for twice as much money, but for the price these are a great pair of road shoes, look stylish, and are very comfortable.

I typically wear size 11-1/2 shoe and the 45.5 fit me perfect. First impressions are these are a great first pair of road shoes for me . Although I have yet to take them any seriously long rides I have not experienced any hot spots or discomfort.
3/22/15- update: after a little longer having used these shoes I did experience some pain in my arches, especially while power up steep hills. I paired these shoes with a set of Super Feet Yellow inserts and now they fit like a glove...total comfort.
