Of all the improvements Giordana made across its refreshed line for 2016, the kit whose transition most impressed us from last year is inarguably the SilverLine. Previously regarded as a simpler, more recreational sibling next to the venerable Forma Red Carbon line, SilverLine received a serious upgrade this year. Giordana's decision to close the gap between SilverLine and its pricier siblings by using higher-end materials and employing a more tailored fit without changing the price resulted in pieces like the SilverLine Men's Shorts, which offer incredible value to the self-sponsored cyclist or weekend warrior looking to add to their everyday kit.
To construct the SilverLine Shorts, Giordana starts with a proprietary synthetic fabric sourced from the swim and undergarment industry, combining two panels of the quick-drying, supple fabric to create each leg of the shorts. The fabric features compression to help support the muscles of your legs while you ride, limiting fatigue-causing muscle vibrations with an equally supportive core to stabilize the waist and hips.
While the compression help maintains overall fit, a pair of stretchy, 4.5cm jacquard elastic leg cuffs add reassurance that the legs won't go anywhere when you're out of the saddle grinding through the last section of a climb. The SilverLine's Cirro chamois received its own upgrade this year, now boasting a slimmer design with breathable, plush cushioning that rebounds after every pedal stroke.

- Q & A
- Fit: Runs small
- Size Bought: XXL
Have been using the Silverline shorts for several years now and these shorts are just as great as previous models. I ride mainly distance rides at a moderate pace. No racing, those days are over. Previous models have lasted 2-3 years of hard use, time will tell if these hold up the same. As far as sizing, same as previous models, they run small. I wear a large in most cycling shorts and always wear XXL in this model short.

- Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
- Fit: True to size
- Size Bought: XL
Just did my first ride wearing them, a 3-hour ride. Huge difference to my old, well-worn shorts. No pain, no discomfort even though I weigh over 100 kilos and do most of my rides climbing. I felt I could move my legs with less friction, and when I stood going downhill, it felt as if the wind was directly hitting my legs. I bought three, and now just bought a fourth one - wish I had known about them before, would have saved me a lot of misery!
