There is a school of thought that a wind vest is more useful than a wind jacket; it can be used on cool summer days, it can be pulled on faster when crossing the KoM line and prepping for the 60mph drop to Morzine, and it can be used as starting layer on late autumn and early spring mornings when the wind bites just a bit too much and you're reluctant to wear too much. Giordana's FormaRed Carbon Compactable Wind Vest offers people the option of going for a sleek, ultra-light, ultra-compressible layer.
Similar to the FormaRed Carbon Compactable Wind Jacket in terms of fit and function, just a good bit lighter, smaller, and better- breathing. The back has a mesh panel for easy venting. The shoulders have piping that matches the waist hem. There are nine panels in total.
The vest compresses like a plastic garbage bag, but fits much better. There's a 3" x 4" mesh pocket with a drawstring stitched to the right inside seam near the waist. Shove the vest in there, and then you can compress it even more. . Cool note about the pocket; stuff the vest in damp and it can dry itself out while stuffed into its pocket.
The Giordana FormaRed Carbon Compactable Wind Vest has a mesh liner at the collar for comfort. The zipper is a cam-lock for both ease and security. Behind the zipper is a draft flap to keep the wind from seeping through the zipper. The cuffs and hem are closed with elastic. The Giordana logos are reflective.
