Description

Ride under the radar.

Rocking giant sponsorships all over your jersey is cool if you're, you know, sponsored, but what's the point in being a rolling billboard if you're not getting anything out of it? Flying sponsor-free isn't exactly the point of the Giordana FormaRed Carbon Custom Women's Jersey, but it is a pretty sweet side benefit. The real money makers, though, are the fabric and design, which combine to support your muscles, keep you cool and dry, and help you slice through the air like an infomercial knife through a frozen rack of ribs, which is to say, easily.

The majority of the FormaRed is constructed from Giordana's Asteria 2.0 fabric, an incredibly soft, light, and compressive blend of nylon and Lycra. It manages, all at once, to reduce fatigue by supporting your muscles, increase blood flow to your extremities, and wick moisture away from your skin like lightning. Asteria's super-secret blend is extra light, too, so you receive the benefits of compression and support without the weight penalty of traditional compression gear, and it has a honeycomb knit, mesh underarms, and locking front zip that speed moisture transfer and evaporation. Don't get thrown by the "Carbon" in the jersey, either. Yes, it's actually there in the Host Carbon side panels, and its primary function is to boost stretch and compressive fit.

Fit is the final pillar of the FormaRed. It's built with Giordana's contoured cut, which is patterned on a body in an aggressive cycling position. This reduces irritation, eliminates loos fabric, and banishes pinching. Aerofix grippers at the sleeves and hem keep the FormaRed from riding up and increase its aerodynamic efficiency, while four back pockets provide plenty of gear storage.

  • Strategic fabric mapping
  • Mesh underarm panels
  • Host Carbon side panels
  • Flatlock seams
  • Anatomical form fit
  • 3 back pockets and 1 zip pocket
  • Locking zipper
  • 50+ UPF rating

Quality and great fit

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
  • Fit: True to size

I'm almost 5'4", weigh 115 lbs, and wear an XS. Keep in mind that this is a race fit and it's supposed to be skin tight. It fits me perfectly in the chest (32" chest), arm cuffs, and belly area.

The photo shows a solid purple jersey, but the actual jersey is very thin and somewhat see through so it does not look like the photo exactly. I could see my bib underneath... Still a nice jersey though. The material is very soft and is not a waffle pattern so hopefully the UPF 50 rating is correct.

love the color

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: Runs small

I also got the matching bibs and the kit looks great together. The shirt runs small so I did order up and this worked.

Giordana FormaRed Carbon Custom Jersey

This jersey is the top half of my favorite kit. Bibs are here: http://www.backcountry.com/giordana-forma-red-carbon-custom-bib-short-womens
I love how light and breathable the jersey is. I love the three pockets in the back (why do so many bike companies think women need only two?). I love that it doesn't ride up in the back. I love the flashy silver bands around the arm openings. This jersey makes me feel fast!

Responded on

But, any visibility problems with the white over the bra area???

Responded on

not yet but I have not had this shirt on in the summer and full out drenched at the end of the ride- u can c the black strips from the bib shorts under the white part of the shirt so thats a little disappointing
