Good axe for long stays, or car camping. Not something I like for a weekend or a couple days out, but a week or so in one location it is worth it to me. The same as the Fiskars version, light weight, good head. Splits wood great, but not the best for bucking.

this tree was perhaps a not a huge problem for the sport axe. nice strong narrow blade. light and accurate.

Excelent weight, manageable length. great price. the sheath it comes with is workable too. it rests easily on your belt without pulling at it too much. It did make my hand sore after a bit, the light weight also requires you to put more effort into the job. Light enough to pack in!

not the sport the gator its super small yet can pack a punch and has that great knife that comes with the gator hey its Gerber nough said

i bought this smaller axe + knife and I dont go outdoors without it. The knife in the handle is incredibly useful and so convenient by storing itself within the handle. I have not tried to cut any large trees but I have used it to cut limbs 4inches this without any trouble. I also use to to split wood to make kindling for the fire.
Gerber makes a great product whatever you buy from them, but I will always have this small axe with me. ALWAYS!

when i first got it i didnt think the nylon handle was going to hold up against slips and slams. after about six or seven trips and watching multiple users put the beating on this axe ive been proven wrong. the handle has held up perfectly; even with direct hits. it has kept its edge and can cut through branches and small trees with a minimal amount of effort. i got the 13" version because its more compact and extremely light, but i doubt the larger version adds much more weight. all and all ive found that this is a very versatile and durable piece of equipment that has exceeded my initial expectations.
