Nice heft, chunky blade. Nice handle with great texture and nice grip. Action is a bit stiff, but all told, I think it will work out well.

Decent beater knife.

Not a bad beater knife. Wouldn't make it my primary. As mentioned before, the blade doesn't hold an edge particularly well. The other downside is the grip. Attempting to get this in and out of your pocket or a sheath is particularly maddening. That grippy rubber grips everything, and resists all efforts to insert or remove it. If this is for your tacklebox, or a backup knife in a survival kit, it's not bad, but it's not a great choice for heavy use.

Is the lock release mechanism the same as the gerber 154cm drop

Is the lock release mechanism the same as the gerber 154cm drop point?

The Gator II is NOT a liner lock knife. Maybe you thought this since you cannot see the locking mechanism release from the profile view of the knife. There is actually a slight depression in the spine of the handle where the locking mechanism release is located. This is a lock-back knife and is as sturdy as they come. I actually own two of them. I love this knife and for the price it is amazing.

Good Knife

I've had this knife for a while and I've beat it up pretty bad. It is a large knife, the handle is especially large. Your pocket its not the best play for this knife. Its bulky and the rubber is super grippy, making it difficult to bust out of in case of Bigfoot attack!

Very nice blade and easy opening. The handle is too big or meant for large hands.
