GCI Outdoor Trail-Sling Ultralight - 2007 BCS

The plastic joints on this chair failed the first day I used it. My son also had one of these and his also failed. It might work for folks less that 100# but not any heavier. The design is smart, but the construction is too light for trail conditions.

this is a good chair reasonably conferable if you want to sit and enjoy nature. i was really impress with the size it can fold down to. this is the kind of chair to take with you while hiking, backpacking, or any time space is tight. the only draw back is that the top bar hits me in the middle of my upper back. that can make you back pretty sore after sitting in it a long time.

This chair is SMALL and very light when packed (not exactly 'water bottle' size, but pretty close). The build quality is excellent.. much better than expected, and definitely seems like it would easily support the rated 250lbs... It sets up fairly quick (15-30 secs) and goes back to pack size easily. In response to another review, you DO NEED TO KNOW to sit in this chair initially! You can't just 'plop' down and sit in the middle (you WILL hit the center bar), you have to sit on the front edge and 'roll' back... hence the 'Sling'. Amazingly comfortable when you're relaxing by the fire, and legs work well in rocky/uneven terrain. I only have one knock against it -- it's not good for cooking -- as you could not sit in it and lean forward. However, that is a miniscule gripe for me considering how small, light, and great this chair is -- people will definitely ask to 'try it out' on the trail!

No matter how I adjusted the sling, The center pole kept poking through the fabric, so that I could not find a comfortable position. Next time, I will just buy a regular-sized camp chair.

After I assembled the sling, I could not sit down all the way because the support tube stuck me in the back. I returned the sling.

This chair is actually very comfortable if you're 5 feet nothing. I've tried owning at least 5 of these things, but they always tend to break. After speaking with GCI, I found out that this chair is still in the "creation" process. It's a great idea, but I hope someday they finally get all of the bugs worked out. I would love to own one that won't break.

I never got this chair because it was too hard to put together. I had problems with the push buttons. Once I figured it out, I wasn't able to sit in it comfortably.
