Charges like a princess but not a warrior

By:

This is my second season on these boots and I'm giving up on them. Nether of the two alpine modes give a precise flex and the boot as a whole is too soft for strong, aggressive, female skiers. I got the liners heat fitted and still could never find their "g" spot. After 12 + tours my feet still ache; had to take the footbeds out all together on my last tour and of course my feet were sloshing all over the place while skiing a steep colouir. These boots did not have enough precision flex or feel to ski on-mountain. I'm done with them and am moving to a higher performance men's AT boot; I'll suck up the extra weight for performance.

Not much more you could want

By:

Got these for my girl for our first back country trip and she loved them. She said it was like having wings on her feet. That said get them heat fitted at a good ski shop. You want to spend the time in there so there you get the right fit. Before heat fitting she could hardly get her foot in the boot. After that there was nothing but smiles. If you want a great boot for effortless hikes and ripping downhill snag it.

Xen gives you the control!

By:
March 3, 2008

I have had several touring boots - these ones aren't light, but they give the best control that I've tried so far, and are fine for long tours.
I skied down a 35 degree slope recently with one boot accidentally in "walk" mode and I didn't even notice because the natural stiffness and forward lean give such good control compared with lighter models. Very impressed.

Zena, my favourite AT boot

By:
January 29, 2008

Having tried various Scarpa boots each with very uncomfortable results I found Xena and love it!

The front of my foot is wide, my heels narrow and my arches high. If you have a similar foot I would highly recommend them. I have now used these boots for about 60 days and have not had one problem with them.

Xena Warrior Princesses!

I absolutely love these boots. I sized them a bit bigger than my alpine boots for the purpose of having then for mountaineering and long touring trips, and they have been perfect. Like any ski boot, I got a bit of bootwork done on them so they fit my feet comfortably, and they have been amazing. I've skiied in them close to 100 days. A great combination of a lightweight boot that gives you responsiveness and control.

Xena the Nightmare

By:
December 21, 2007

The Garmont Xena are everything nut not that what is mentioned in the above description. The boots are the nightmare. I have problem with fitting the cuff, adjusting the buckle, I feel pain that you can not even imagine when I try to fix it on the good position to somehow feel the skis and having my leg still in it but even than I do not feel the surface under my skis because I lost my circulation in leg, a total disaster, total disaster. Furthermore, I also wanted to adjust the boot by the screw given with the package of this wonderful product but the windings on the both boots (left and right to adjust the canting) was peeled only after two turns, catastrophe. When I was buying that boots, reading all those beautiful description, I though that I have solved my problem about two type of boots: alpine and mountaineering one. Now, after two days of usage, I'm selling that nightmare I buying new boots.
