Scramble through scree fields, tackle problems with the gym rats or rock it as an approach shoe, no matter what you do with it, the Garmont Men's Sticky Lizard Shoe keeps you glued to the vertical stuff. Garmont even gave this versatile beast ample support and cushioning for days when you stay a little more horizontal (we know they're few and far between).

  • Tough, durable suede ensures that these shoes will go the distance season after season
  • ADD Construction drastically shortens break-in time of this shoe, which means this shoe will fit like a glove all the much faster
  • PU Footbed features fungus and bacterial-resistant treatments to help control odor and funk
  • Rubber toe bumper protects your toes against damage in the face of rocky terrain
  • Rubber midsole allows for a smooth flex and supreme shock absorption needed for covering rocky approaches
  • Vibram 973 outsole has a tacky, super-sticky compound that provides additional grip on hard, slick surfaces

Awesome shoes!

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
  • Fit: True to size

I bought these shoes on Monday, received them on Thursday, and climbed the grand Teton on Saturday which is a 20 mile hike with 7000 feet of vertical gain. Needless to say I did not have much of a chance to break the shoes in, but my feet were comfortable and at the very end of the hike I had one small blister on my great toe. Not bad at all in my opinion, two thumbs up!

Is that a rear welt at the back of this...

Is that a rear welt at the back of this shoe for semi-auto crampons?!

These are approach, climbing shoes. That "welt" is just matching the plastic Heel Lock System to the broader sole, and, besides the appropriate use of the shoe itself not matching up, that sole is going to be way too flexible to lock on any kind of crampon. You would blow out of your crampons with every step. If you're really intent on it though, you could probably try to make something like the Kathoola Micro-Spikes work.
