Radium Alpine Touring Boot - Women's

When they’re in walking mode, the Garmont Women’s Radium Alpine Touring Boots’ upper cuffs flex fore and aft so you can scramble up rocky ridgelines; when you clamp these babies into ski mode, the Radiums become steely-eyed and stiff for the steeps. Garmont’s lightweight shell design (new for ’09) uses an overlapping lower shell and multi-injected cuff for consistent flex on your ski-mountaineering ascent and torsional stiffness on the descent. The women’s-specific G-Fit Rapid liner has a plastic-reinforced tongue and is thermo-formable so you get the best of both comfort and support worlds, and the low-profile lacing system lets you adjust the fit on long tours. Silver fibers in the lining retain body heat and repel odor.

Bottom Line: Smooth on the uphill, sturdy on the down.

Is the shell of the 23.5 the same as the 23 or 24? Would that sole length be the same for other 23.5 Garmont boots?

A 23 and 23.5 are the same shell size. Garmont shells break at the whole size.

High Performance Touring Boot

By: Backcountry.com Sponsored Athlete
May 14, 2009

To date, this is one of the most powerful and light touring boots on the market for women. It is easy to put on and take off- a consideration on cold days or at altitude. It is also extremely easy to put in walk or ski mode- with no forward flexion necessary to put it into forward flex. It is extremely comfortable and it's weight to performance ratio is phenomenal. A great boot in which to scramble on ridges or to ice-climb or to perfect a great turn. Reliable in the steeps, strong for turn initiation, and it provides great comfort. A solid performer for the backcountry, powder, steeps, and resort skiing.

On sizing, found this a bit tricky. I am a 24.5 and found the 24 shell with the 24.5 liner to be a bit too constricting. This boot does not pack out quickly but is comfortable from day 1. Recommend getting your true size for the shell...or even a 1/2 size larger.

Best so far, but not for all feet....

By:

I've tried numerous Scarpa and Garmont AT boots, and these are decent. Very stiff, so great at the resort, but comfy enough for the backcountry. Seem best for narrow, high-volume feet.
The stock Garmont liner is not fabulous- I would recommend replacing them with an Intuition liner.
I am a shoe size 8, and seem to fall between a 24.5 (performance fit) and a 25 (more generous, touring fit). I got a 24.5, and the Garmont liner length didn't stretch much at all (even with toe caps during molding process, etc.), so my toes were cramped when touring, and felt only slight relief on the downhill.
If you have the perfectly sized foot for Garmont sized boots, these would be awesome boots!

I ski on a 24 T-1, I am a mens shoe size 7, and my foot is 24 cm from heel to big toe. Is the 24 and 24.5 the saame shell? Do you recommend a 24?

If you are looking for performance go for the 24, but if you are looking for comfort go for the 24.5. They are the same shell size.
