Ener-G Telemark Boot - Men's

The Garmont Ener-G Telemark Boot rocks all-out mountain assaults, on- or off-piste, in the backcountry or at the resort. The triple-injected Ener-G boasts torsional rigidity and superb lateral control for high-speed steeps, and a sweet, progressive forward flex that builds energy through your turn. The flex zone follows the natural shape and flex of your toes. Asymmetric last gives ample room to the big toe for walking and generates increased inside edge pressure. Super solid magnesium buckles reduce weight, and the arch buckles use serrated ice-breaker pin to cut through build-up. The G-Fit High custom thermo-formable liner has a burly exterior fabric for consistent flex. NOTE: Be sure to check out our sizing chart for optimal fit.

Bottom Line: Telemarkers push the limits, and the Ener-G is there every step of the way.

I am a women (160lbs) with a very wide foot. Garmont womens boots

I am a women (160lbs) with a very wide foot. Garmont womens boots are to tight for me. Thinking about the mens Ener-G. I am an aggressive skier but haven't skied in mens boots before. I am worried they might be to stiff. I spend 80% of my time at resorts, 20% backcountry. Is the Ener-G worth a shot?

Ener-G's

By:
August 27, 2011

I bought my first pair 5 years ago and loved how they performed right away. As I got better at freeheel, they enabled me to improve as well.

I am going to lean towards buying a new pair this year as my liners are finally blown out and stomped to death.
I would recommend these to anyone, they're great!!

I've got a pair of Ener-g's that I'm swimming in.

I've got a pair of Ener-g's that I'm swimming in. The shell tongue says '29/30.5' and the liner tongue says 30. I thought the shells only went by the half-size though, so the question is; Can I get a size 29 liner for these boots? (I'm a size 12US.)

Alright, here is the deal. you could get a new pair of Intuition liners and give it a go. however you will come up with the same issues soon. the Ener-g is a boat of a boot, not too much foot contour and if they are too big they will stay too big. you can also try getting a custom foot bed and this would help anchor your heel. i would say take these to a master fit boot fitter and see where to go. in the end you may have a boot that is too big that doesn't fit you foot. and you need a new boot.

Disappointed

By:
April 8, 2009

This is my second pair of Ener-G's. The first pair lasted 3 yrs, this pair is cooked after just one yr. When I pt a lot of fwd pressur on the boot, the instep bows outward and I lose contact. It is very disconcerting. I am going to look for a boot (like the Scarpas) that have a strap over the instep.

Suppose your set up for next season is 178 sickbirds and bishop

Suppose your set up for next season is 178 sickbirds and bishop bomber bindings. you are 5' 11" and 160 lbs. You are and advanced and aggressive telemarker with wide feet doing in and out of bounds skiing in all conditions. is this the boot for you?

I have a similar body type (5-11 and 170lb)and set up...volkl mantra's with bishop bombers and the garmont ener-g boots...it's all power for the resorts but the bishops are a bit too heavy for back country so I switch them out when I go BC skiing.

So I tried on a size 26.5(I wear size 9 1/2 shoes), and felt my toes curling in the boots. Will a size 28 be too big? I still need to get the inner boot molded to my foot, right? I'm trying to upgrade from some Crispi CX-As.

A 28 will definitely be too large. Garmont shell sizes run so that each half size is the same shell as the whole size below it (ie 26.5 is the same shell as a 26), so a 28 would be TWO shell sizes larger than the 26.5.

needed a wider toe box so picked the garmont over scarpa. but i also have a narrow heel which lifts up a bit when i flex forward. the booth is otherwise rock solid.

The cheaper Ener-Gs are the from 2007. There was no change in the boot between 07 and 08, so they are essentially the same boot.

Fit like a Birkenstock

By:
December 29, 2009

I drank too much the night before and forgot my T1's at Alta. I ended up having to borrow a pair of Ener-G's. They were 29.5 just like my Scarpas. I like to let my feet spread out when I can, and the Ener-G's let me do that. However, I want a fit like a ski boot, not like a Birkenstock sandal. The Ener-G's fit me like a snowboard boot. There was also too much forward lean, and I didn't like the overlapping tongue action on these.
The buckles are nice, and they're comfortable to walk in, but they sacrifice downhill performance.

Exactly; I have never been able to fit into Scarpas cuz I have flat feet, bunions, fallen arches, 'hobbit feet', basically (thanks, Jason!). So I have been in Garmonts since they came out with the Gara many years ago, and I love them. My last pari of Garmonts, the Squadra, made it through 7 hard seasons of back-country, 30-50 days at ski resorts, and two season on Winter Park ski patrol, and I sold them on eBay still in decent shape. I adore my Ener-Gs, they are ultra comfortable, and after 3 years in them I can see no durability issues. I give them 5 stars...but they are feet specific.

Fit aside, the T1 or T Race is stiffer and more aggressive. The Ener G is to the T Race, as the BD 02 is to the Hammerhead. I understand that there are 'Garmont Feet' and 'Scarpa Feet,' but the Scarpa is a better performing boot. If you have feet that absolutely won't fit into a Scarpa, then go for the Garmonts. I'm reviewing a specific product in comparison to the competition relating to performance. If you're foot is not "boot specific," then I would recommend the Scarpa T1 or T Race, because it a superior product.
By the way, Jason, I love wearing Birkenstocks, and I wear Sorels in the winter- I don't have a narrow foot. I just don't want my foot flopping around inside the boot when I'm skiing down the mountain. Scarpas offer a snugger fit, and stiffer performance.

the reason it fit like a birkenstock is because you obviously have a low volume foot which makes the scarpa perfect for you. Not everyone has sweet little Cinderella feet like you! My hobbit feet LOVE the Garmont ener-g boot...it's the best thing out there for us big stinky hobbit footed tele skiers-
