The Garmont Women’s Elektra Telemark Boot uses stiff lateral support for steep chutes and high-speed freeriding in and out of the lines. Plus Skiing Magazine named this boot in the 2010 Official Ski Test Selection, so you know it has solid props right out of the gate.
Triple-injection technology for torsional rigidity in cuff, lower shell, and underneath the ball of the foot
Streamlined G-move walk mechanism easily locks the boot cuff in two forward-lean positions
Women’s-specific Thermoformable liner boosts comfort and fat-ski leverage on high-speed turns
Lightweight, easy-adjust magnesium buckles plus telescoping cuff buckles for security while walking
I demoed this boot yesterday, and really liked it. I am used to a really flexible boot (older Gara), and so it took a lot of getting used to. I ended up skiing it in "walk" mode, as I couldn't even flex it in "ski" mode. This boot really improved my skiing, and supported me a lot more than my old one. I think I want to buy it... but am unsure as to how it will break in. Will it become more flexible the more I ski in it? Any advice is appreciated. I'll be doing mostly resort/patrolling in it, with the occasional backcountry trip. Thanks!
I think that Garmont boots will wear down, and 'break in' after much use. They do not hold up as well as Scarpas. Also, as you get used a stiffer boot, you will work new muscles, and eventually, you will feel better skiing with the new boot. Your skiing will definitely improve, and you will be stronger. I know what a change it is to go from soft boots to stiff ones! My advice is to get a stiff T1 Lady boot, and charge hard! If you are looking to improve your skills, and charge harder, you will not regret the switch to a bigger, stiffer boot. Enjoy, EMH! Also, did you solve your dilemma with the climbing wires? Gave an answer to your Q but didn't get a helpful vote. Just checking. Happy turns!
I've skied these boots for 2 seasons now, 50 days last year and 80 this year, and they're still in great shape. I have all the power I need to rip high speed turns, to ski backwards, to jump, and to bomb through tight trees and to drive any ski I want.
The Elecktra is lightweight for such a burly boot, but still plenty stiff.
I've skied men's boots before, and the liners dig into my calf muscles. These boots are cut plenty low for me, and are super comfortable.
Although they're not a touring boot, I've toured in them with the top couple of buckles loose, and they still lock my heels down.
I wear a women's 9/9.5 and am using a 25.0 for skiing in resort. A 25.5 or 26.0 would probably be a better fit for you if you wear a 9 and want a comfy boot or you want to wear thick socks.

I have tried all the women's tele boots out there trying to match my small slender feet with my aggressive skiing style. The Elektra is what it came down to! They are still big in the toe box for me like all Garmonts, but with good moldable liners and some extra insoles these boots have been the answer to all my foot and ski problems! They are burly and agressive to drive big skis in big terrain, but yet lightweight for backcountry and comfy enough to wear all day long. The standard Garmont insole can cause some boot bang if you don't leave them loose enough for climbing in the backcountry and the heels wear holes in them eventually over time, but still a GREAT boot for the more aggressive female skier. Get a new intuition liner and these things become burly house slippers!
