Crashing is bad, especially when you're flying down a rocky trail on foot. The Garmont Men's 9.81 Escape Trail Run Shoe goes above and beyond to stabilize each stride, so you can log those vertical miles without eating any scree sandwiches.

  • 3D mesh uppers and linings dry quickly and breathe like mad
  • Synthetic leather wrapping increases durability
  • Memory foam heel counter increases support and enhances fit
  • Liquid rubber toe cap protects against stubbing
  • Asymmetrical rapid lacing system with gusseted tongue eliminates forefoot pressure
  • Carbon Duo stabilizers keep the foot centered and provide gradual midsole compression
  • Supportive, cushioning EVA wraps around and under foot
  • Sticky rubber sole grips well and resists wear

Bottom Line: You need some stability in your life.

Great Deal!

I was just looking for a simple pair of trail running shoes. I saw this deal on BC and couldn't pass it up. I happen to be a size 9.5 and the only size left was 10. The previous reviews say to buy a half size up because these run small, which is true. The 10's fit me perfectly! They are nothing too fancy, but they are comfortable and light. i like the drawstring laces, they hold the shoes on just right. I took these on a short run and they felt great instantly. Can't wait to use these some more! I may even try some day hiking in them to preserve my mid weight boots that I use for backpacking.

Nice looking but ...

By:

These are nice-enough looking shoes with their monochromatic black design and the quality of the materials is OK, but they are strangely ill-fitting. I ordered a half-size larger than my size, but I probably should have ordered a full size larger. It's like they are mistakenly marked: the box says "USA 11, EUR 44.5" ... I thought EUR 44.5 translates to USA 10.5, not 11. And they kind of almost feel as if they are on the wrong feet when wearing them (I checked, and they aren't). OK, not quite that bad, but a general feeling of not fitting like a glove. Maybe they'll feel better once they are broken in. On the plus side, they have a no-tie lacing system so you don't have to worry about your shoelaces coming untied.

Shoes run small-very small

By:

The shoe looks nice but the sizing is off by at least a half a size. The 21.99 SAC deal seems like a great deal, but be sure to size up. If you try to exchange they will charge you the standard 59.99, and only offer you 21.99 credit, and if you try to return you pay the 6.99 shipping.
My foot measures 11.5 and I always buy 12s. A 12 leaves absolutely no extra room and is not wearable. I hope this helps.
I gave it 3 stars because it looks like a good shoe, but I really cant wear it because of the size, and SAC was not accommodating with an exchange.

Thanks for the helpful review - I was curious though, people mention getting these sneakers at "SAC" or "S&C"? What does this stand for?

black is back

Got these shoes off S&C. Wanted a pair of trail runners to use for hiking (when I don't want to wear the Garmont hiking boots). Initially felt odd out of the box, but after wearing them around the house for a while, they were comfy. I wore them on a rocky beach/coral hike and they were fine. Followed that up with a lengthy wet/muddy rocky hike, and I have to say they were very good. The minimal tread didn't clog (although there is a cut out on the bottom of the sole) but still delivered good traction. I like the lacing system as well. Works better than conventional shoe laces. Not as light as some other shoes I've had, but still, worth the S&C price. Three stars as they are better than average but not a standout.

Good Shoe but Not Much Treads

By:
November 15, 2011

Got these on SAC for a really great price and am happy with them. After reading other reviews, I ordered a half size up from my regular 11. They are a great fit, but I have a feeling my regular size would have worked too since there's a little extra room with the 11 1/2. Anyway, I love the laces on these - you don't tie them but instead use a sliding plastic clip to tighten & loosen them. They hold great and are really easy to adjust. These were comfortable out of the box and I went for a run without any break in at all, and they felt fine. They look good and seem like standard Garmont quality (which is a good thing).
My only complaint here is the treads. They do have treads but they are very shallow and the bottoms are nearly flat as a result. I would prefer a sole with a bit more of an aggressive tread pattern personally. The soles are, however, good and grippy. Overall a good shoe that wins out on comfort and good looks.

SAC stands for Steep and Cheap, www.steepandcheap.com, this is a one deal at a time site; one item with a crazy discount until time or the item runs out.

Half-size too small

By:
November 7, 2011

Nice shoes, but definitely buy a half-size bigger than normal. I'm always a 9 and am wearing these in a 9 sitting at work, but wouldn't for any long hikes - my toes are against the end.
