Yes, there are plenty of heart rate monitor straps on the market these days. Not all monitor straps work with all watches/CPUs. The problem should be over now that the ANT+ signal of this Garmin Premium Heart Rate Soft Strap is received by most of the newest, highest tech gadgets on the market. Like PowerTap and Joule, though you'll probably need to run the "find" feature in order to sync up.
This soft strap is an upgrade from the standard Garmin strap that comes with your 500 or 705. The unit is smaller, lighter, more flexible. It syncs perfectly with the Garmin FR60, the Forerunner series watches, and the Edge series bike-mounted computers.
The claimed weight of the soft strap module is 18g, the strap's claimed weight is 33g for a total weight of 51g.

I love this HR monitor

I pair this with my garmin oregon 450 HRM and it works great. Sometimes you need to lick the electrodes when you first put it on to get a reading right off the bat but no big deal. Comfortable and reliable.
Does not work properly with G Rino 650

I went on Garmin's website to make sure that it worked with my Garmin Rino 650, I even called Garmin to double because I couldnt find anyone that used it with my product. The ANT+ would rarely connect to my Rino, if it was connecting it would disconnect in matter of minutes. I give it 1 star because I think I did my research properly and that the ANT+ connection was crap, and I would give it a 5 star for the BC refund system and policy.

This heart monitor was easy to pair with my Garmin Edge 500. It is easy to put on and comfortable to wear.

This one works so much better than the stock strap. It is more comfortable and makes better contact.

- Familiarity: I've used it several times
I've just used this a few times now, but have no issues at all. It picks up the beat right away and is sensitive, consistent and accurate. The strap system is very comfortable and quick to put on or take off. I got this to go along with my 310XT. After uploading to Garmin Connect you have a ton of information (max heart rate, average, heat rate zone, percent of max, etc.) - pretty much everything you would want.
Good purchase

- Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
Im not a super big fan of the snap on design but I found a comfortable fit after some adjusting and the read out was quite accurate after I made the right adjustments. This is a good purchase.
Comfortable but I had Issues

- Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
I was in a pinch because the first purchase started to fail me. The readouts were incorrect on all devices. I went ahead and purchased a second one and it works fine. I'm sure garmin would take care of me but I didn't have time to send mine back and deal with the hassle given an upcoming race.
Comparation of both Garmin straps

The soft strap (top one) is easy to take off and put on. You hardly feel it, it doesn't move and it's comfortable. The bottom one is not as comfortable and you have to readjust it since it slips down sometimes.
Comfortable strap

I've tried many HRM straps, this is by far the most comfortable one that I've bought. Easy to strap on, it comes off in one of the side straps and it stays secure during the run/bike ride. I hardly feel it compared to the other one that I had (the hard shell plastic). It's work the upgrade.

For heart rate bands, this one's pretty darn comfy! Adjusts easily and the rubber on the front interior is supple yet sturdy, and really helps the band stay in place! I've had mine for while now, love it!
Will this send info to my iPhone4s?

Yes, the Garmin Heart-Rate Monitor will send information to your iphone. However, you must have an ANT+ receiver attached to your iphone to get the signal and an app to display / store the information. The receiver you must buy, a basic app is free on the iTunes website. Once you have the receiver and app, you can add sensors to your bike to measure speed and cadence.
