Adventures are better when they're fun.

It's been said that it's not an adventure until something goes wrong, but if you're going to leave aspects of your trip up to chance, the route shouldn't be one of them. Thankfully for you, there's the Garmin Oregon 650T GPS. With a three-inch color touchscreen and a customizable interface, you'll have all the information you need to stick to your route right at your fingertips. There's an eight megapixel camera, which not only takes crisp images, but it geostamps them, allowing you or a friend to find the exact location where the picture was taken. What separates the 650T from the 650 is that it comes pre-loaded with U.S. Topo 100k maps, for highly detailed information about the terrain no matter where you are (it also comes with a worldwide basemap). If you're really seeking adventure, let something other than the route be the issue. After all, it's better to get stranded at your destination, then be lost some place you really don't want to be in the first place.

The three inch backlit color screen is protected by the Oregon's rugged body. Not only is it glove-friendly, it's easily visible in sunny conditions. You can also load BlueChart marine maps, CityNavigator maps, and Custom Maps via the MicroSD port. If you still need more information, you can download BirdsEye satellite images, and overlay them on your map. Waypoints can be selected off of the mapping feature, or you can import them wirelessly from compatible devices, and it's easy to save, modify, and index your routes for future trips. Your waypoints and routes can be shared wirelessly with other users of compatible Garmin GPS devices. By downloading a geocaching .GPX file, you'll have access to hidden caches, for more options on your next outing, and you can even select different trip profiles for a number of activities, which helps you to organize your information between recreation, driving, boating, and training.

By using both GPS and GLONASS satellites for location, the Oregon is able to determine location 20% faster than using GPS alone. And it's not just fast, it will maintain a lock on your location even in deep canyons and around tall buildings. To ensure that your information is presented in a way that works for you, the dashboard is customizable with a 3D compass, barometric altimeter, and configurable data fields, among other tools. It's compatible with a number of aftermarket mounts, making it highly adaptable to nearly any outdoor activity. And it's helpful that you have the option to power the Oregon via the included rechargeable NiMH battery pack or lithium/alkaline AAs.
