Fenix 2 Special Edition

Garmin’s Fenix 2 Special Edition has all the same great features as the standard edition, but offers a different screen color (dark information displayed on a white field) that we find to be more user-friendly. Like the standard edition, the Special Edition is built to map any number of environments with GPS, a compass, a Barometric Altimeter, and 20 megabytes of memory that can store up to 1,000 waypoints, 10,000 tracklogs, and 50 routes. The Fenix 2 Special Edition also has an optional smart notification setting, so you can store your phone safely and still receive messages on the wrist unit.

The Fenix 2’s insanely long list of features makes it the ultimate computer for cross-training or triathletes. It has a multi-sport switch that lets you toggle between disciplines, a goal-oriented workout editor, and interval training settings. The Fenix 2 tracks distance, pace, elevation, VO2 max, a range of running dynamics, and heart rate (when paired with Garmin's HRM-Run monitor). And, of course, it offers your standard wrist watch functions: alarm, timer, stopwatch, world clock, and multiple time zones.

The Fenix 2’s screen is large enough (1.2in with 70 x 70 resolution) to be read quickly, and with its claimed weight of 90.6 grams, you’ll hardly notice it’s there. The Fenix 2 has a water resistance rating of 5 ATM, and the battery will last for up to 50 hours in GPS mode and six weeks in ordinary watch mode.
