Take along a personal trainer and a navigator on your next bike ride with the Garmin Edge 305 GPS Unit. This cycling computer keeps track of your heart rate, speed, distance, time, calories burned, altitude, climb, and descent—how's that for one handy-dandy device? Garmin gave this GPS unit a high-sensitivity GPS receiver so you won't lose your signal, even in tree cover or canyons. Beef up your competitive edge when you use the Edge 305's Virtual Training partner feature, which gives you a virtual competitor to race. Record your favorite course and try to do it faster next time with the Courses feature, which lets you try to match or beat previously set speeds at certain points along the way. Analyze your workout after you finish by hooking the Edge 305 up to your PC.

Bottom Line: Get everything you need to train hard, track your progress, and stay on your course with the Garmin Edge 305 GPS Unit.

Talk shop with all the gear freaks out there: ask 'em questions, upload/browse photos, and give your 2¢.

Almost Perfect

This is a great tool. It was built mainly for cycling, but works equally well for running and hiking. It has an excellent bike mount. The unit is small too. About the size of a Sandisk Sansa e200 MP3 player. It fits in the same armband. Also it uploads to the PC with no problems.

This thing is very accurate both in location and elevation. It calibrates a barometric altimeter with the GPS when it has a good fix. There is not enough room here to mention all the excellent features and uses. It does everything any other bike computer can do plus you can plot your path on google earth after your ride. Its useful when hiking to know what time you will get to the camp. It functions just like any other GPS. Upload waypoints and navigate to them. Also if you just wandered off into the bush it will navigate back for you. Also if you have a goal time for the marathon, just upload the course and speed and the unit tells you if you are ahead or behind your goal time. The list goes on. By the way I don't work for Garmin in case you were wondering.

Can't connect to PC

Despite Garmin's claim that you can upload the info to your PC to track your progress, anytime I tried the thing froze up completely and had to be returned.
