Backcountry nirvana can be hard to reach, but G3's shiny new ZenOxide Carbon 93 Ski will get you there in a hurry. It'll also get you down through powder, over variable snow, and on hardpack with the grace of a falling leaf and the stoke of one who's finally found enlightenment.
The ZenOxide 93 is the middle child in G3's award-winning ZenOxide lineup, narrower and more versatile than the 105 and a little burlier than the crazy-light 88. It weighs under three pounds per ski--the same as the 105, actually--but is a little tougher and more hard-snow oriented, with a half-cap construction that utilizes ABS/TPU sidewalls to direct power to the edges so you can crush hardpack, chop, and suncaps with style. Just like it's big brother, it sports a carbon-fiber cap and two triaxial carbon-fiber laminates that give it the torsional rigidity and fore-aft stiffness to charge and the lightness to make super-short work of the skin track, so you can tack on lap after lap without working your legs to smithereens. All the carbon is wrapped around a paulownia and poplar wood core that gives the ZenOxide the smooth flex, lively feel, and responsive characteristics to rally down any pitch, and the ski is also outfitted with a Titanal mounting plate for strong and reliable binding installation,
Because the ZenOxide is designed to ski through variable conditions, G3 gave it a
solid amount of traditional camber underfoot to increase power and hold
when you need to lay down a solid edge. It also boasts an early-rise tip that gives it the
ability to float through powder and stay nimble in tight spots, while
the ski's moderately long turning radius
keeps things when you're opening it up through choppy runouts or on firm snow. It's also outfitted with
burly steel edges and a fast, tough P-Tex 2000 Electra base to keep you
moving fast and holding tight edges in everything from deep snow to
unexpected windslab to springtime corn. No wonder that guides, adventurers, and regular folk who are out there every day love the ZenOxide 93 for its stability, versatility, and go-everywhere chops.
