If you're praying for deep powder days, the G3 Reverend Ski is just what you want propped up next to your altar. Not only does it provide divine flotation with a 93cm underfoot width, the Reverend's powerful ride parts crud like the Red Sea. This big boy from G3 has a snappy feel that makes it more versatile than most powder skis, so you can use it to drop a knee any day of the season. It also has a combination cap and sandwich construction to increase strength and stability without increasing weight. Ideal for AT or telemark skiing, the Reverend fears no evil and floats like an angel over the pow . Can I get an AMEN?!
Bottom Line: G3 Reverend: THE answer to your powder-day prayers.
Just got these bad boy's mounted with dynafit bindings.{177cm}I have had about five days of skiing on these skis and they have been a great surprise. For a fat ski I am amazed how well you are able to do short turns, and on steep chutes littered with crud and ice they held strong and stable. And the little powder I could find on the coast mountains of BC this year they are pure joy! For traversing on steep terrain on the up in ski tour mode the amount of grip made me feel safe and secure. With just a tweek of my ankle it felt like I could hold the never ending super g turn!
I am looking for a backcountry-only ski that is dependable in powder, but more importantly, is responsive and can handle tight turns in the trees and hardpack as well. I am 6'0 and 195 lbs, and currently ski the Black Diamond Zealot 192cm. While it's an amazing ski for deep and steep days, I have a hard time making quick turns in trees and skiing the hardpack with it, and am looking for more of a one-ski-quiver for the Utah backcountry. Does the G3 Reverend or Saint sound like it might work for what I'm looking for, or would the G3 Spitfire be a better fit? Also, any size suggestions? Thanks!
I've skied both the Zealot and the Reverend, they are completely different animals for sure. The Reverends are very responsive to quick short radius turns, but if you are ripping on 192 Zealots right now (which must be quite a handful), you will overpower them on steeper, more open stuff. I also ski in Utah; the 93mm waist of the Revs is JUST enough on deeper days so I'd be worried about the Spitfires not providing enough float. I've also skied the Reverends on hardpack in Vermont (before I saw the light and moved West), and they handle surprisingly well, although they tend to chatter if you really throw your weight into them. If I was forced to have only one ski, it would be the Reverends, and I'd be pretty stoked to have them.If I were you I'd go with the 185, but I've never seen you ski...
This is my first pair of fat skis and the rip through the powder. I have the Marker Dukes mounted on these and they are wonderful. I spent much of this season in the trees and in back bowls and in the slack country and they do a great job of keeping you up in the deep snow. I do wish they were a little stiffer when getting on the groomed runs, but this is not what they are made for (so I make do). If you use these for their intended purpose these are great. I am very please with how well they response and flex in the deep snow.

Bought a pair of 177 long Rev's together with G3 skins and mounted them with Marker Duke's. Last season I skied in all conditions from Temblant, Banff to St Anton and I have to say for me this is the perfect combination - i'm born again... Riding powder's never been so effortless and on hardpack, bumps and ice they're simply great fun. This is a hard act to follow, not sure what to get next maybe the El Hombre's (more hardcore?). Don't like the new artwork on the 09 version I prefer the originals.
I'm 6'2", 165lbs, on BD O1's with Mid-Stiffs. I have the 177cm. First day on these was in 8 fresh inches in Crested Butte, and I have never looked back. These skis absolutely rip in fresh snow and crud, and are super-quick turn to turn in the bumps. Long-radius, short-radius, whatever, I was even arcing turns on Vermont boilerplate with these badboys (they perform amazingly well on hardpack). While you might want something a little fatter for REALLY deep days, you just can't go wrong with this ski, especially now that the graphics don't have that Gary Coleman looking fella on the front. Hallelujah.
My ski shop messed up the bindings on my skis, so they gave me a free rental while they fixed it and I grabbed the Reverends out of the rack. Combine them with the BD O2 and a day of knee-deep powder, and you'll be speaking in tongues. I was actually surprised to learn that they're not especially light skis, because when I was on them, I had never snapped a ski through a turn quicker. I actually over-rotated a jump turn. They tear through the fluff like a dog with a stuffed animal and, once you hit the ice at the bottom of Ajax, wrap themselves into the perfect edge for slicing the last few turns back to the gondola. These skis are simply the best powder boards I know of. Swear to God.
