An excellent companion to my Fischer sbounds (nearly wide, waxless) for steep trails. They climb much better than my BD nylon ascension skins. Skin trimmer sucks.

What is the length of these. I see plenty of widths but no length, but maybe I am not looking at the right place.

Hi Johnathan Rambo,
Thanks for your question. The length on the G3 Expedition Climbing Skins starts out at 205cm and one just need to trim the skin with the Trim Tool to the appropriate length. Instructions on how to do this are provided with the skins.

These skins disappointed me from the first time I used them on a cold day. Much of the glue came off the skins when I took them off the skis the very first time. They don't climb as good on steep slopes as other skins I have used and I have been touring for over 10 years so it's not my technique. And today, on a 10 degree day, I went to take off my one skin and both plastic toe clips broke off with a regular pull. The glue gets gummy, sticky, and messy over time and I would never buy these again. They stick great but are a bear to get off the skis while still in your skis. I am sending them back pronto. I used to ski with old school Life Link skins and never had as many problems as I have had with these. Maybe I just got a crappy pair, but I will always buy black diamond brand after this like I do for everything else I enjoy in the outdoors. I have nothing against G3 as a company but this was my honest experience.
Toe Loops too Small

Never got to use these skins because the toe loops were to small for my skis. Granted I was trying to use them with my Surface New Lifes (151 - 122 -151 mm) so I wasn't that surprised just disappointed. Ended up exchanging them for the G3 Alpinist climbing skins. Haven't yet received those though so can't say too much about them either.
P.S. the only reason I rated these with 4 stars is because they seem to have received pretty solid feedback from everyone else.

I'm looking for skins for my armada vjj's 175. 126-136-115-133-123 mm. Would I want to get the 140mm? And would these fit well onto the full twin tip rocker style of the vjj?

I would definitely get something that would be wider than 135mm especially because that's the width of ski behind the ball of your foot. From your toes back is where most of the friction comes when going up hill. So if behind that foot is 133mm I would at least want to make sure thats carpet to carpet, especially with the VJJ, that's the part on the snow most likely and the smaller 123mm tail is actually rockered off the snow. The tip attachment on these can sometimes cause trouble with a fat tip, that's why they came out with the http://www.backcountry.com/g3-alpinist-climbing-skins, their tip connector is self adjusting to any tip width.

I bought these skins for my Tua Crossrides in a 110 mm width. I trimmed them as per the video and used them a couple of times before the season ended. They grip well and I've had no reservations about recommending them.
Decent skins for a great price

These are very reasonably priced and take care of business. Occasionally I get some minor back slide on a steep section of the skin track, but in general I have not had any other problems with them. The cutting tool is great and easy to use. I have them set up for a pair of Line SFB's. See GURU photo above. I would def recommend them. I like the loop instead of clips on the front like the other G3's.

Tail Clips Fail

My biggest complaint with this skin setup is that the holes in the rubber tail pieces rip after extended use. Some other G3 models have riveted tail pieces which makes it easy to replace the rubber piece but with this setup you cannot replace it and are stuck with a worthless skin (unless you just want to secure it without a tail clip like old school skins).

get the biggest one backcountry is offering now. unfortunately, they don't have a 130 or anything in stock. you can just cut to fit, and these are still a solid price.

With only the 80mm left, I would try the G3 Alpinist skin. Get a 130mm Med. length (171-181cm). http://www.backcountry.com/g3-alpinist-climbing-skin.html

G3 dropped the price a bunch on these skins this year, but they also dropped the bag and skin saver.
